SNK, maker of the Neo Geo, is releasing a new console in 2021
      by João Carrasqueira

Back in 2018, SNK capitalized on the retro gaming boom kickstarted by Nintendo's NES Classic Mini with the release of the Neo Geo Mini, a miniature arcade machine that sold out very quickly upon launch. Now, the company appears to be trying to do it again with a new console launching in 2021.

SNK took to Twitter to announce that a new console is in the works, with a goal to "bridge the gap between passionate fans and console gaming enthusiasts". It's not really clear what the company means by that, but SNK games definitely have a legacy and a passionate fanbase for many of its franchises.

There is something that can be gleaned from the announcement tweet, though. Between the use of a Wi-Fi-like symbol and the tagline "who is the best player?", it's fair to assume that some sort of online functionality is at play here. Whether that involves real-time multiplayer titles or online leaderboards is up in the air, however.

Aside from that, there really isn't much in the way of information about the console. The Neo Geo Mini was mostly a way to relive some of the company's classic arcade titles, but there are some SNK franchises that still get new releases, or that have had more recent entries since the prime era of arcade games. It's possible that some of those titles will be available here, or that brand-new games will be developed for the platform. Again, that's all speculation, and we'll have to wait for the company to share more details at some point in the future.

First Nioh 2 DLC titled 'The Tengu's Disciple' announced, with a July release date
      by Namerah Saud Fatmi

It has been just a few months since the sequel to Team Ninja's Nioh made its debut on Sony's PlayStation 4 platform. Today, the Japanese developer announced an upcoming pack of DLCs for the game, starting with The Tengu's Disciple, due out July 30, 2020.

Creative director Tom Lee explained that Team Ninja has a trio of DLCs lined up for Nioh 2, with The Tengu's Disciple being the first to be released, and the other two scheduled for launch over 'the next several months'. He also detailed what these expansion packs will actually contain and add to the game.

Here is a summary of the storyline for The Tengu's Disciple provided in the announcing blog post:

Players who purchase The Tengu's Disciple will get to enjoy in-game items as well as additional chapters which add to the overall storyline of the game. Apart from the new chapters, new content in the DLC includes new armor, difficulty levels, skills, bosses, yokai, Guardian Spirits, and a weapon for players to fight with.

In addition to the announcement of the three DLCs planned for Nioh 2, a Photo Mode was also revealed along with nine new missions for the action RPG title as part of an update which started rolling out today. Photo Mode features new camera settings for players, allowing them to toggle exposure, lighting, gradation, dramatic filters and other options.

Team Ninja has promised that further information about The Tengu's Disciple will be revealed in the coming months. It can be expected that details about the other two DLCs scheduled to be released in the future will be made available around the same time, or perhaps a little after.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free to play on Steam until Sunday
      by Florin Bodnarescu

If you've been eyeing Fatshark's 2018 action game Warhammer: Vermintide 2, but weren't quite sure about actually purchasing it, the title has now gotten a free weekend on Steam.

For folks not familiar, Vermintide 2 is a first-person action game in the Warhammer universe, with a focus on co-op, and is the sequel to 2015's Warhammer: End TImes - Vermintide. You can play as one of five different characters, each with three different careers - unlocked at different character levels. There are 13 campaign missions to experience (plus two more if you have the Shadows over Bögenhafen DLC), with players fighting against the Chaos army and a rat-men species dubbed the Skaven.

In case that sounds like something you'd enjoy playing, the free weekend lasts until November 24 at 6PM UTC, which is 10AM PT or 1PM ET. On the off chance that you find the gameplay of the title appealing, there's also a 75% discount in place until November 26, bringing the price down from $29.99 to $7.49.
