CrimsonBlur
I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and any time I play a Steam game the refresh rate is locked at 60hz! Even when I put it at 1280x1024, at which resolution my monitor displays at a max of 85hz. How can I MAKE the game use the optimal refresh rate? I can't change it in the video options... This only happens in Steam games, also. Must be something about the Half-Life engine? I need help on this, it gives me a headache to play CS now, and it isn't because I suck (which I do)! Maxious
there's a bug in windows xp that does this. either use the refresh rate override in your gfx card's control panel (nvidia cards have one so ati ones should aswell) or use a 3rd part program like refreshlock ( http://dl.winsite.com/bin/downl?winnt/sysu...1|5000000037257 )
HellBender
oh, could be that too. but usually its your fps_max is set too low.

Frost_311
Go to your Display Properties -> Click on the Settings Tab -> Advanced -> On the ATi Panels you 'should' see a Displays tab with your incoming and outgoing connections, TV, Monitor, ect... Click on your Primary monitor. You'll see a drop down menu on the right bottom part that allows you to "Over-ride Refresh Rate" Select the refresh rate you want and you should be all set. I tried to use Reforce to change it and it still wouldn't work in Counter-Strike but this built in tool changed it and it works great. Good luck! (Sorry I didn't know the final few button steps but you should still be able to find it, I'm at work and don't have an ATi card on this computer)
