On a global scale, Samsung is absolutely obliterating Apple right now in terms of smartphone sales. At last count, Samsung shipped between 72 million and 76 million smartphones last quarter while iPhone sales came in at 31.2 million units. Drilling down to the all-too-important smartphone market in China, new data from market research firm Strategy Analytics suggests Samsung?s domination continued there as well last quarter. Yonhap News Agency on Tuesday got its hands on Strategy Analytics? data, which shows Samsung smartphone shipments climbing to 15.3 million units, good for 19.4% of the market. Meanwhile, Apple sold an estimated 3.4 million iPhones in China in Q2 2013, and its market share fell to 4.3% as a result. In the previous quarter, Samsung shipped an estimated 12.5 million smartphones for 18.5% of the market, while Apple sold about 6.1 million iPhones.

This has been pretty common knowledge for years now, has it not?  Apple has 2 or 3 phones currently on sale, while Android has what? 300?

Even Windows Phone will start making gains on it.

Did you read the OP? Or even the title?

Samsung does not currently have, nor has it released in total, 300 Android phones.

Well that point went way over your head...

Do you also find it baffling that Toyota has a higher market share than Ferrari?

Hence the budget iPhone being rushed in.

Release day will be good. All the Apple snobs will be out with "This isn't the standard of device I've come to expect hurrdy durrdy"

Yeah I can't wait for the new cereal-box-prize iPhone to come out and be a complete panacea for Apple.

hahahaha, panacea liked your post!!!

I find it hilarious that you claim I missed your point when you're the one who missed my point

I'm also highly unsure as to what part of my post lead you to believe I found anything baffling, but considering how oblivious you are to the differences between your post and the OP in terms of the topic at hand, we'll leave it be.

The topic is not "Android still crushing iPhone in the world's top smartphone market", which means your post is wrong. Apple is currently selling 3 iterations of its iPhone at various price levels (4, 4S, 5). On Samsung's store, they're currently showing 37 Android devices, but also other OSes like bada OS and Windows Phone, though not with nearly as many devices as their Android offerings.

While I obviously know that it's the Android-based Galaxy series that drives a large part of the numbers quoted in the OP, the fact remains that this thread is not exclusively about Android. There's a clear difference between "Samsung's Android phones crushing iPhone" and "Samsung's smartphones crushing iPhone".

Since I fear this post may also have gone way over your head, I'll summarise it for you: You made no references to Samsung in your post; this topic is not exclusively about Android vs iPhone, it's about Samsung's smartphones vs. Apple's smartphones. There was no mention of the word "Android" in the OP.

It would be interesting to see the phone sales broken down by model, as I think we all suspect the vast majoirity will be their flagship S4 and Note (Android) phones but it would still be good to see if the OS does have any reflection on their sales.

I have to admit I've never even heard of Bada nor the models that ship it and the windows models seem quite old. I'd like to see someone like Samsung start shipping models with a choice of OS to really see if Android is as popular as it seems or if it's just the model itself, not that I could see Apple ever allowing a third party ship their phone with a version of iOS.

Android is like a set of legos. Sure, it can BE a Ferrari, but only if you build it that way.

I don't much care for the way Android looks out of the box, with the exception of HTC One. That phone just looks nice. Google's stock isn't bad either of course, but I'm not about to root my phone for all of that.

LOL.. at this point Android IS the Ferrari and Apple/iOS is the Toyota

One of the Twitter designers along with many others btw, all agree that Android just whoops iOS butt

Cool story.  I can dig up random articles about how iOS is better too...

Personally I don't make my choices based on the opinions of others.  I use what best suits my needs, and Android isn't it.

If we're doing dumb car analogies, the iPhone is a Porsche 911. Sure other cars are faster and fancier, others are cheaper and more boring, but if you want to a buy a sports car, you always know what you're going to get from a 911.

Ferrari implies a fast car. I still can't get past Android's stuttery UI, especially when scrolling. Dropped frames is a major annoyance.

Samsung's phones are Ferraris that aren't tuned correctly. The iPhone is a Toyota Tercel with gold-plated 22-inch rims.

Well Samsung phones are made of cheap flimsy plastic, so comparing them to a Ferrari couldn't be further from the truth.  I'd compare them more so to Hyundai or Kia.  They aren't exactly pretty, use a lot of cheap plastic, have more features than most people need, and steal cosmetics from other companies *cough*.

Comparing phones to cars is stupid anyway.

Well iOS7 might win back some LSD users :P but I'm sure Apple have seen this threat and are probably already preparing another round of lawsuits.

Nobody gives a ###### what the body of the Ferrari is made of. It's all about the horsepower.

As for Hyundai, here's one for ya:

That's a 5.0L V8 putting out 429hp.

This is more Apple's speed:

So you're saying that if a Ferrari was made out of plastic, people wouldn't care?  Right...

That Hyundai looks pretty familiar.  Oh that's right, every design aspect of that car was stolen from other car manufacturers.  Anybody that pays $60k for a knock-off is an idiot.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. Here's a nice plastic body for ya:

What? The idea of round wheels was stolen from other designs? Typical Apple-supporter. LOL!

I guess you haven't used Jelly Bean.

Android hasn't been stuttery for quite a while.
