Star Trek Into Darkness named 'worst Star Trek film'

Recommended Posts

Ah, for a moment I thought you were being serious.

Couldn't disagree more. Into Darkness was a movie for the fans and it shows. Most of this is just the inevitable backlash against something new and is something we saw with Star Trek (2009). The reality is that most people have seen the other Star Trek movies countless times over the years, while they'll have only seen Into Darkness the once. Heck, the movie isn't even out on Blu-ray yet. Once things have had time to settle we'll see a different response.

don't agree with you there.  For me at least I just thought it was really really bad.  The story made absolutely no sense what so ever , been able to communicate and beam across the galaxy for instance, the ship being at the moon and then falling in the earth's atmosphere (would have taken weeks) or Apollo 13 would have been a shorter movie, when the ship lost gravity they where falling all over the place instead of floating, the list goes on and on an on ....and on top of all that, they turned spock into the incredible hulk, you wouldn't like him when he's agree.... it was just stupid and I think once it's out on Bluray people will notice even more stuff....

Say what you like about the two JJ Abrams films, he undoubtedly made star trek cool again and introduced the universe to this generation. With the exception of first contact all the 90s films sucked and were only enjoyable to people who were already star trek fans.

People who don't like the JJ Abrams films probably enjoy the 90s films and the people who enjoy the JJ Abrams films probably don't like the 90s films. It's not perfect, it could be better but at least star trek can go somewhere now.

action is fine, the problem was it was dumb, really really really dumb, nothing got to do with star trek it was just a really dumb movie.  I actually laugh out loud in the cinema a few times...

I guess he's off to ruin Star Wars now. :(

Tell that to JJ.

You are expecting realism and you will not get that in these kind of movies.  Most people realize this is fantasy...science fiction...not real.  If you cannot get past that, then like I said before...I wouldnt even watch these kind of movies anymore.

Again, it is a movie.  Open your mind and imagination and enjoy it.  If you cannot, then dont watch movies like this.  There are a ton of movies that are just for entertainment.  Doesnt have to make sense for people to enjoy them.

ya but if it's a really bad movie there is no harm in talking about why you think it's bad.  And if it's a franchise that you've enjoyed for 30 or so years then it's a bit disappointing when someone craps all over it

Whether something is feasible or can actually happen is different from whether or not the movie/action/story line is any good.

And I said that.

You didn't even address my other point.

Star Trek from inception to latest has been a slap in the face of science.

true, star wars (originals) are good, but they are fantasy not science fiction so for me at least:

  1. the action: average , but not any way different or exciting from any other movie, drags a bit in bits (the spock punch up and the ship loosing gravity really go on for too long)
  2. story: awful, made no sense what so ever
  3. movie: combine the two above, average action, terrible story and not science fiction in any way, pretty special effects though, but obviously not enough to make it a good movie

Do you normally talk about yourself in the 3rd person?

Relax, I thought Growled was referring to you, which is easy to see if you follow the direct quotes.

Moving on...

Yea, but are you more of an TNG fan, or Original Series?  I find the fans of each tend to lean towards the same generation of movies as well.

I like both equally.

All this whining about "the moon" - they weren't in orbit of the moon. The Enterprise was stable, then it was under attack when Khan double crossed them and was making evasive maneuvers and lost power, falling into Earth's gravity well.

It was in no way an Apollo 13 type situation.

Jeez.

WRATH OF KHAN had some doozies, yet I don't see you INTO DARKNESS haters complaining about that.

I have yet to see a satisfactory explanation of why Khan recognized Chekov, or how the hell Reliant could mistake the 5th planet of a star system for the 6th. It's like landing on Earth and looking for Martians.
