Recommended Posts

Square Enix has revealed new details on the long awaited Final Fantasy XII for PlayStation 2. The official names for the two lead characters are Vaan (Hume Race) and Ashe (Hume Race), which indicates there are other races in the game, like in FFXI.

Vaan is a thief from the Dalmaska Kingdom, he looks for liberty in the continent. His dream is to fly in the sky as a sky pirate.

Ashe is the princess of the Dalmaska Kingdom, the only daughter of the king, she is determined to be the next throne of the kingdom. However, the kingdom is under invasion from the Valentia Empire, she participated in the liberation army to confront the enemies, she started her journey to pursuit the enemy leader and knock down the enemies one after another.

The story takes place in the world called Ivalice (the same world in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance). In the Valentia continent, a military nation Arcadia Empire and the Rozaria Imperium from the rear continent Ordalia have engaged in wars for many years. One day Arcadia begins to attack the small country Dalmaska Kingdom, which is in the center between the Valentia and Ordalia continents.

Ashe, the woman who fights severely, it is not possible to depress. She meets one boy named Vaan at this time, her mind began to change gradually, and the meeting of the two people greatly changes the story in this world.

I've always wondered... Final Fantasy is made by japanese people,

Yet most of the hero's are "White" Specifically white blonds...

Does that confuse anyone else or is this just a mystery to me?

I wanted more of a darker Final Fantasy.
Yea I do too. Where are the good old days of Final Fantasy VI and VII when the world was barren and desolate?

When I first read this thread title I thought it said VII for PS2 and I was shocked to think they were making a remake because I thought it would never happen. Then I realized it was XII and said "doh!".

X, X-2, XI, XII - all great games, all have another thing in common, the fact that they are aiming at the mass market instead of giving us something new. I want a darker game too !

Dark? Why?

The environments in Chrono Cross and FFX (light, tropical, warm) were much better than environments in FFVII/VIII (desolate, barren, cold, no light greens or blues).

IMO Final Fantasy/ Square Enix fans IS a huge market, so I think the guys at Square Enix molding FFXII the way most of us would like it to be.

I am not a big fan of the bright and happy worlds that is why I like the worlds where you feel like that there is no hope to stop whatever evil you are fighting against and the whole world has been destroyed by this evil.

Also some of the places in Chrono Cross were not that friendly. Actually most of it wasn't. i.e. the Dead Sea, Hydra Marhes, etc.

no, they are not white. THey are Japanese people who dyed their hair to blone. As you can see in MANY young teen in Japan. Dyeing their hair is like a common thing now.

I guess you're right, but due to the otherworldly graphics and vivid colours, I didn't even notice :D.

Anyway, I found this great article with TONS of detail (or elaborations? :D) on FFXII, it even touches on what we're discussing.

It may be a long read, but it's well worth the time ;).

Sephie ?

Sephie ?

That bi-shonen warrior couldnt hold a candlestick to the greatness of Kefka !

Now he was a classic villan. A Crazy, consumed and obsessed with power-mad, man who not only takes over a kingdom but also destroys the world. You forget, hes the only one who atcually does really fin the plan he started.

FFVI was almost 2 episodes in itself.

Not that sephie wasnt cool, i just think Kefka was MUCH better.
