does powerbook g4 superdrive write DVD-RW?

Recommended Posts

It depends on the model of powerbook, for example my old 12" had it disabled in the custom Apple firmware. The drives are perfectly capable of it but Apple chose to disable it, I had to resort to using a hacked firmware which invalidates your warranty to get it working.

You can always just change it back before you send it in for repairs.

Every superdrive I've had in a PowerMac has been able to burn dvdrw out of the box. It burns like normal, but to use the dvdrw disk again, you have to erase all the data before you can burn again, just like the cdrw.
