Stallone has teased that the next feature would either be in the vein of Unforgiven or a ?passing of the torch? to a new lead character, but now it appears that Rambo might live on in a different medium. THR reports that Entertainment One and Nu Image are developing a TV series iteration of Rambo, and Stallone is currently in negotiations to be involved with the project ?on a creative level.? Moreover, Stallone might potentially star in the show in a reprisal of his Rambo role.

It?s early days, but per THR?s report it sounds like a TV series is the route that Entertainment One and Nu Image have decided to take instead of another Rambo movie. The series will be developed by the two studios and then shopped to broadcasters in the U.S. and internationally, but no timetable is given. The Rambo character first appeared onscreen in 1982?s First Blood, which was followed by three subsequent sequels.

If Stallone does reprise his Rambo role, it?s tough to imagine the actor settling into a regular TV gig. What?s more likely is that Stallone?s Rambo will be a recurring character on the series, which would focus on a different lead. No details are given as to the plans of the show, and there?s still the issue of working out Stallone?s contract to be involved with the series in the first place. The actor is currently filming The Expendables 3, and he?ll next be seen in theaters opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in next month?s Escape Plan.

I love the series but a tv series.. nooo. Rambo is too violent to be accepted on tv!!

Depends, only the last film went for graphic violence and since its release plenty of shows have not been shy to revel in graphic violence either.

Rambo could be coming to the small screen but if it does, it will be with a new face as its central star: Sylvester Stallone says he won't reprise his iconic role as John Rambo.

Independent studio Entertainment One on Wednesday announced that it had inked a pact with Avi Lerner's Nu Image to develop and co-produce a TV series based on the Rambo property. In a news release announcing the project, the companies noted that they were in negotiations with Stallone to be involved with the project "on a creative level" as well as to "potentially reprise his iconic role as the original Rambo." But a Stallone representative tells The Hollywood Reporter that no such reprisal is going to happen.

"While a television series based on the Rambo property is in development with Entertainment One and Nu Image, contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone will certainly not reprise his role as the iconic John Rambo for the small screen," Stallone's press representative at Rogers and Cowan tells THR.

Stallone may still be involved in a creative capacity, but "he himself will not portray the character in the series," the rep says.

eOne and Nu Image will develop the series and shop it to broadcasters in the U.S. and internationally.

"I'm happy to be partnering with a prolific company like Entertainment One who has a track record of creating high-quality programming for their broadcast partners around the world,? Lerner said in a Wednesday statement announcing the Rambo revival. "And I'm excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy."
