Uwe Boll has launched a Kickstarter to raise $500,000 (?323,000) for his latest movie, an Edward Snowden-inspired Postal sequel.

The director, whose films include the critically-mauled Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead and Bloodrayne, said that the movie will be "a controversial comedy in which we take up current political issues".

"We take the biggest scandals of our democracy, like the happenings about Julien Assange and Edward Snowdon (sic) and show that there is no difference between our democracy and the prison camps in Russia or China," Boll wrote.

"We show that through this massive monitoring our communication data is not safe anymore! We want to make a movie which is totally uncensored, pointed against everything and everybody, against every political party and every religion.

"There will be no survivors."

Boll quipped that money raised through the crowd-funding website will go towards paying for "cocaine for the stars down the nose". At the time of writing, Boll has had $8,380 (?5,409) pledged from 193 backers.

Boll's original Postal was released in 2007 and saw Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda hiding out in Paradise, Arizona. The film netted Boll a Razzie Award for 'Worst Director'.

He later won a 'Worst Career Achievement Award' Razzie in 2009 for being "Germany's answer to Ed Wood".

I'm sure he'll bring his artful directing chops to this project, resulting in a fiiiiine piece of entertainment...

We'll laugh and we'll cry, but at him, not with him...  lol

Why doesn't he just exploit German tax loopholes to subsidize his film like he's done with all his previous trainwrecks?

Those loopholes were closed.

Boll had nothing to do with "Doom".

Postal was probably the least crap Boll movie, it wasn't actually terrible.

Not saying he should make more movies though. he should never be allowed near a film set ever again.

and didn't he promise to never make another movie after that poll.

Uwe Boll seems to thrive on following the 'better to be hated than ignored' mantra.

That said, this post will probably be my first and last comment on his movies, his person and his career.

Boll's movies are mostly crap, but Postal was actually pretty entertaining.  I'd welcome another one.

Yeah I liked Postal. He also did a movie called Rampage (actually not based on the game), which was actually pretty good, suprisingly.

However I would still not donate a cent to him. He wants to make a movie, he can pony up or find proper investors himself.

Boll has actually done some pretty good films - See Stoic, Attack on Darfur and 1968 Tunnel Rats.

Stoic & Attack on Darfur are not for the faint of heart, very powerful but very brutal films.

I quite liked Postal, to be honest, it was a perfect representation of the game in my opinion!
