CPUkid
Does anyone know if Sony is planning on dropping the PS2 price for Christmas time to compete with the other consoles? I'm getting one for someone for a christmas present and i'm debating on whether to get one now or wait.
-=SD=-
I doubt it, they are releasing a 40GB HDD though, not sure when but I saw it in the issue of GamePro.. Comes with a Final Fantasy game pre-loaded on it and costs about $99.
HellBender
It comes with FFXI preloaded, so you need a network adapter with the HD to actually use that Final Fantasy game. No price cuts planned for PS2, but the Gamecube is only $50 at EB if you trade in your old N64/PS with 7 games. Good deal, especially if you have a dusty old N64 lying around that you never play anyway.

I might be interested in this as I haven't even touched my N64 for over 2 years.

And do the games need to have the original box and instructions? I use to keep my games in good condition, but my brother lent my games to his friend for over half a year and those boxes and instructions are gone. HellBender
Not sure if I can find any links ATM but check out your local Electronic Boutique, they have all the info. No boxes needed, just stick everything in a bag and give it to them. Although I've been exploring other alternatives to that, and you'll actually get a few more bucks for it if you sell it on eBay or amazon.

Monkeh
Someone told me there was going to be a pricecut around February, but don't quote me on that. The best deal here in Canada atm is a minimal PS2 package (console, 1 controller, cords) for $220 at Futureshop, it's not that bad. There's also some new consoles on eBay and they're usually less expensive than those in retail stores.
Galley
A price cut I not gonna happen, especially since the new SCPH-50001 model is out.
King Trode
There are two PS2 models they are selling now both with progressive scan. One is just the system for $179.99 the other is an online pack with the online adaptor and ATV Offroad Fury 2 for $199.99.
Galley
Are you sure the online pack includes the new 50001 model?
LiLViEtDuDe917
Sony states that its console is doing very well just as it is. Xbox and Gamecube will not catch up to PS2's sales line anytime soon. Sony says that they will do good even if Xbox and Gamecube drops their price again. I will be purchasing a PS2 for the holidays and I have to say that it beats Xbox and Gamecube, not technically wise, but you do get addicted to it once you get into the games such as the Final Fantasy and stuff. Plust there is backwards compatitbility for all my favorite PSX games.
devBrian
PS2's price cut won't happen at least until Easter time in my opinion. Around the time Gran Turismo 4 comes out, PS2's price will be lowered to lure the people who want GT4 but don't have a PS2... Get it? Got it. Galley
Are you sure the online pack includes the new 50001 model? I was in Best Buy yesterday. The online pack DOES include the new 50001-series PS2! At that price, everyone should own one or two!
