Yahoo unveils its new logo (spoiler: it still says Yahoo)

After a month of swapping out logos, Yahoo has finally chosen a winner to stick with for good. Shown above, it's still "whimsical, purple and with an exclamation point" -- and as a hidden bonus, that exclamation point is animated on the company's website. The only real upside here? Now the internet won't freak out about Yahoo's design decisions on days when it goes all comic sans.

There is a reason that the company is going under more and more. It lacks innovation, leadership, and the drive to better itself.

I'm sure the fact they wasted a bunch of people's time and money on creating such simple logos for field testing shows they would rather focus on the small things rather than the bigger picture, like saving their company for the long run.

For goodness sakes, just close the doors and lock up shop already.

That's... terrible. Really, really not good. Have they been keeping up with modern design at all? Are they trying to be 'different', if so it's working, they're different; Sadly, that's not always a positive.

I seriously am in disbelief over this. I'm being dead serious when I say that logo makes me think back to the days of Windows 2000. Absolutely terrible.

Literally at best a custom font and a bevel added. So 30mins work if that?

Turns out, you're actually right.

According to Gizmodo it's just a modified version of Optima. So I went to a place that sells Optima, typed YAHOO! into the sample box, saved the picture, resized/rotated some ****, coloured the cutout of the letters (because I'm not even working with actual font files), beveled it, and added an off-white background with a slight gradient. About 20 minutes including googling how to resize a selection because I don't actually use Photoshop at all. (everything's done by eye so everything's slightly off, but I think it's sufficient to prove the point)
