webeagle12
:s :s :s With the growing concern over the effects of competition in youth sports programs this summer, many Canadian soccer associations eliminated the concept of keeping score. The Soccer Association of Midlake, Ontario, however, has taken this idea one step further, and have completely removed the ball from all youth soccer games and practices. According to Association spokesperson, Helen Dabney-Coyle, "By removing the ball, it's absolutely impossible to say 'this team won' and 'this team lost' or 'this child is better at soccer than that child.'""We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are."This summer Peter Oldring spent time with the Midlake Thundercats, an under 11 boys and girls team, and put together this radio documentary. http://www.cbc.ca/thisisthat/blog/2013/09/03/to-ensure-every-child-wins-ontario-athletic-association-removes-ball-from-soccer/index.html#.UiiJ2lrKfEw.facebook

ctebah
It saddens me that there are such gullible people on the internet, specially on neowin, that believed this story. OP, you should be embarrassed of yourself buddy. The story itself doesn't even come close as to how funny it is that people believe everything without even doing a bit of research. OP, you should be embarrassed of yourself buddy. The story itself doesn't even come close as to how funny it is that people believe everything without even doing a bit of research. It's not that hard to believe and was presented in Real World News. Sure, this would be the new low for making all kids not have to deal with losing, but, honestly.... not by much. Don't be so quick to judge, I guarantee you've fallen for something equally stupid.

No, I have never fallen for something this stupid. Sorry but this story belong on the onion website. If I read something like this I would first try and look up the information to see if there's any truth before posting about it. The story is funny, but the amount of gullible people on the Internet is even funnier.

The story is funny, but the amount of gullible people on the Internet is even funnier. The problem is it has one source for the part that is true and another for the satire part so if someone clicked the first link and noticed it was in fact legit, it may come down to being lazy, not stupid. The issue here is that it's sufficiently believable to be not a question of gullibility but a flip of the coin. I read it and believed it because you could see some ######ing retarded sports body doing so.. Nicely done by the radio station. It was perfectly played. Nashy
I heard a school was doing this down here in Australia recently too. It's a terrible thing, it doesn't teach kids that competing and hard work gets you results. You're not a winner just for trying.
