Bill Gates still biggest Philantrophist

Recommended Posts

In my opinion, it's great to give, but to give quietly. If you give in a "high profile" kind of way as the Forbes article stated that Gates did, it just makes me wonder if he's giving for the right reasons. But one could say, "At least he's giving."

can u secretly give away 23 billion dollars? its not that easy

Wow, so many un-educated people.. First off.. when Gates gives away 23 billion which has been over the past few years.. the government doesn?t give him back something like 12 billion. This money is not out of the corporate pocket of Microsoft and in Microsoft?s name. This is his personal money. Microsoft does their own thing giving donations of money and computers to schools and other organizations to support technology and help those that don?t have the opportunity to take advantage from the current computing technology out there. The Bill & Melinda Foundation is his own money. He is a very highly respected philanthropist and is very well known in the bio tech industry as well. He works very hard with others outside of Microsoft for finding cures to diseases and helping those less fortunate around the world. I?m not sure how that foundation is setup.. a few of them waive the tax deduction fee and if not that?s what it is.. Tax DEDUCTION. It?s a deduction on the taxes he pays. It?s not extra money in his pocket. It's simply less money the foundation or he himself pays. So many are brainwashed into the idea of Gates being so "evil".. Bill has never gone around saying hey! i donated this amount of money here or money there! When you read about his articles in magazines or on TV dealing with the foundation it?s always about what is wrong in the world and how more attention needs to be put on this disease or that. He doesn?t have this "PR Team" that says okay lets just throw some money around and it looks good. He puts money into his foundation and it?s used for very good reasons, he also pays great attention to where the money is going and is the most involved in that process with is wife. He has especially done great things in awareness for Africa and their problems dealing with AIDs. A very large percent of people over there are infected but most don?t even know much about this disease. The governments are mostly war lords or broke. The Gates Foundation does a lot for the world. Its really sick listening to people talk about there being some other evil side to it. Why don?t you go to the Gates Foundation website, read and watch his interviews, and read other articles about the world of Philanthropy.. you will see nothing but help from Gates and his big part in helping the world become a better place.

a deduction IS more money in his pocket, whether it is Microsoft, the foundation, or him personally. You are the uneducated one, sorry.

a deduction is mearly diverting tax money from the gov't to charities thats all... instead of paying taxes to the gov't he deducts his charitable contributions from his income. Either way the money is leving his pockets, its just that its going to the charities instead. Bill makes so much money he will ALWAYS fall under the highest income tax bracket (~50%) so it doesnt really matter how much he gives away, unless he is making less than 1mill or giving away more than he makes in that year. How i see it is instead of giving the money to the gov't so they can send more people to places like Iraq for no reason and have a handful of americans killed and foreigners killed everyday, he is doing some good wtih his money in helping the people that really need it.

Hmm man, You shouldn't claim we aren't uneducated,

Rather, We don't have the facts, :D

However, a tax deduction would be quite handy considering that all his combined assest taxed would be taxed well near 50%,

Like we said, He's not a bad guy, but if you had 10 billion dollars, you would reach the point of TOO much money, and so you would have nothing to do with it. Why not score some brownie points with ST.Peter at the pearly gates.

Serioulsy 10 billion dollars is any mans limit, beyond that, wtf would you do with it????

I would buy a giant monolith that would like a giant penis, and put right next to my highschool with the words:

"Wong - The student with the greatest and biggest ... 'Ambitions' "

Can these two get merged? Also I don't see why you guys hate on the guy donating, hate on those that don't do anything at all.

Oh no, He certainly is doing the right thing,

We are merely justifying the fact that to him,

It isn't the biggest scarifice in the world. He is doing good, but he does not deserve to be called the worlds biggest philantrophist.

A man who earns 20,000, barely survives, and still gives to charity is a true philantrophist

It's based on the sacrifice ratio, How much you need vs how much you give.

And he is certainly dishing out spare change, so he shouldnt' be called a philantropist in my eyes.

and like bayrider said, all he is doing is giving to chairty instead of the government.
