Michael Bay's adaptation of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon has hired a pair of writers.

Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia will provide the script for Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Warner Bros' video game adaptation, reports Variety.

The game centres around a fictional unit of the US Army Special Forces. Using highly advanced technology, the soldiers operate as the President's own private army.

Bay will produce the movie but has not committed to directing it following Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Federman and Scaia have written for television shows including Jericho, Warehouse 13 and Human Target, and have been working on the scripts for the Y: The Last Man adaptation and a Zorro reboot.

The Ghost Recon series debuted in 2001.
