zephyr
Hi all, I'm slowly converting from W2K to XP and am incurring a plethora of problems and several crashes. Problem: A particuarly annoying one is when I tried to perform a search in Windows Explorer the system slows to a snails pace and locks up. In W2K I was able to perform a search and toggle to multiple applications without this problem occuring. Explanation: When I entered the name of the file I was looking for on the root C: drive (the search included all sub-directories) the search status bar and display of folder initially were scanning pretty quickly but after 10 seconds I couldn't even move my mouse or toggle (ALT+SHIFT) to another application. Even the task manager did not pop up on the first try. Action taken: I've already removed the dog/helper and I'm sure this is a setting somewhere in XP but where??? System: AMD 1.1GHz RAM 256Mb HDD 10Gb Any Ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

BroChaos Veteran Posted January 22, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 22, 2002 you don't need tweakUI to do that, if we are talking about the same thing. in the search window, just click on "change preferences" and then "change file and folders search". now it should open like it always used to. ciao! joe
freeza
yeah but with that way you get the xp buttons and combo boxes and everything this way you get the exact win2000 search...fast as hell and everything
