Stingray
I?d like to know if there?s any utility capable of showing us the WinXP registry size (like in W2K), and optimizing it. (I already have Pagedefrag, but it?s too basic) I export the registry in regedit.exe and it?s a 61 Mb file. Is it too much? Also, I don?t know if the file size is the true registry size. Thanksalot. StimpyX
Check out RegCompact: http://talismanic.net/codeworld/regcompact It's (obviously) a Registry optimizer, but it lists size information for the various hive key categories. Though not out of the ordinary, 61 megs is a bit on the weighty side (mine exports to 35MB). But then again it all depends on what's installed and being used on the system, how many user accounts are set up, and so on. And no, the Windows Registry in it's *normal* state doesn't take up as much space as its exported contents.
