invisivel
Hi! i'm using WinXP and it detects my monitor: SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER (M)s Plus. But i'm having some problems. Windows don't detect the maximums refresh rates of the monitor. For example at 640*480 it supports 120Hz and WinXP only detects 100Hz. At 800*600 it supports 100Hz and WinXP only detects 85Hz, at 1152 * 864 it supports 75Hz and WinXP only detects 72Hz. How can i edit these setting using Regedit? AgEnTsMiTh
Yes this is a problem with XP its only setting the refresh rate at minimal settings. From what I understand and have had is XP setting the refresh at 60mz only. What kind of video care are you using? I have a Gforce3 Ti 500 and there is a utility that will patch that refresh issue in XP but it only works with Nvidia based cards.

AgEnTsMiTh
Download the refresh rate program here: http://www.planetquake.com/ztn/nvreffix/nvreffix.html. If your monitor has a driver, start the program and under "set:", select "Set every resolution to monitor's maximum supported rate." You might have to do this for every color depth, but I'm not sure. Then it should work :). If your monitor doesn't have a driver, you have to manually type in each refresh rate for each resolution. Go to http://www.planetquake.com/ztn/nvreffix/guide.html for more info.
JasonWebb
You have to use Powerstrip then... but if you have the latest drivers, it should detect everything right. The Nvidia refresh rate utility only works for games, and it can only set refresh rates your drivers say are available. Powertrip enables you to enter "custom" refresh rates. JustinLerner
In Display properties, the Monitor tab, uncheck "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". Actually Windows (2000/XP/ME/98), don't really 'detect' refresh rates. These are determined by the driver (.inf file) either supplied with Windows or by the manufacturer. You can select other refresh rates manually, but ensure you ONLY select those modes that are compatible between your Samsung Monitor AND Video card. Select them from the Adapter tab after you uncheck the option in the Monitor tab. Don't edit the registry for something like this.
n3urotic
Go get powerstrip from download.com, then keep bumping up the Hz by 0.1 until you hit 80ish or your monitor blacks out, then hit escape and come back set it to the next highest refresh rate. I cranked my SyncMaster 753df to 72Hz at 1280x1024, up from the default 60Hz.

I installed the Samsung Samtron 70M WinXP driver, the monitor supports the same refresh rates of mine and now it's working :)
