RadiationXP
Hello... I have seen a couple gaming wheels from thrustmaster and logtiech and they have small stick shifts on the side of the wheel.. Now, do these stick shifters actually have the different gears in them? or do you just push it up to go up a gear and down to go down a gear? I was just wondering cause they looked kinda small and it didn't seem like it would have the 7-8 positions a normal stickshift would have in a normal car.. So I was just wondering if they did have all the positions, or if you just push it up or down depending on whether you are wanting to shift up or down.. Thanks, and btw, what is a good recommended set of wheel/pedals/stickshift that would be good for most racing games like.. NFS series, Midnight club, and other nascar/indycar racing games!!?? Thanks! SanGreal
Most of them, including the logitech/momo racing one are sequential shifters meaning they only go up and down. They are pretty useless since most wheels also include sequential shifting paddles on the back of the wheel.

Galley
Someone does make a standard six-speed shifter for a steering wheel as an add-on. I can't remember the name of the wheel, but it has a thick brown leather-like cover, and has grey spokes.
MxxCon
Now, do these stick shifters actually have the different gears in them? or do you just push it up to go up a gear and down to go down a gear? lol. and where do those gears will be connected to? to what engine? the one that doesn't exist in your computer? or the one in your garage? ofcuase it's all digital and there are no "gears" inside. read http://www7.tomshardware.com/consumer/20020524/index.html

Prelude76
now all we need is a set that also has a clutch pedal that co-ordinates with the shifter, and if you screw it up, you grind the gears or stall out. and also, i want an add-on that bolts to side of chair and gives me a realisitic parking brake i can yank hard when going thru a hairpin turn. and rumbling wheels dont cut it. i want an add-on chair that actually tilts and applies left/'right knocks into your rib cage to give you 'sensation' of racing. and get one of the 3-screen setups so you can see out the side of your car easier. oh, and also an add-on dashboard with ALL gauges (oil temp, speech, tachometer), maybe even a cup holder for your coffee. and lets not forget a re-useable air bag that inflates if you crash into another car, tree, or wall. :D (ps. i'm kidding, if you didnt clue in by now)

RadiationXP
hey, they make panels/instruments like that for flight simluator ,...... we should complain about the lack of instruments that you have brought up for racing/car-simulation games.. hahah... ** why would you bring coffee into a car you are gonna race in?? it would just spill on you and you wuld burn and die... maybe microsoft or logitech or even thrustmaster will fulfill our needs... ... imaloser.. why in the world would i think that they would do that for us?? Prelude76
yeah, companies just look out for their best interests, not ours. I have the 1st generation Logitech Formula GP wheel. The wheel is 10x better than the current offering. It has an all rubber-lined wheel, the buttons are in the right place, and it gives you 2 big easy-to-use clamps that hold to a table a LOT better than the newer Logitech GP wheels. The wheel looks a lot more sturdy too. But they realized they makes those 1st wheels for $40 and sell for $80, and now the new wheels are made in China for $20 and still sell for $80. see, they probably doubled they're profits. does anyone still have the 1st generation Logitech wheel? you know exactly what i'm talking about, right? they stopped selling them about 3 years back, i think. 1st generation wheel: 2nd crappy generation: (same price)
Galley
http://www.act-labs.com/scripts/proddetails.asp?pid=79 Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of! :woot: They also make pedal units with clutch pedals.
mthibadeau
I have the entire ActLab setup. ForceRS wheel, performance pedals (with clutch) and the shifter. I couldn't be happier, unless winxp had better FF support that is. I'm seriously cosidering a dual boot with Win98 just for driving sims as the Force Feedback is much better than xp's IMO. Prelude76
but dont most F1 cars and Rally cars have button or wheel paddle shifting, and no manual clutch? so technically, if you want full F1 realism, you only need the steering wheel with button shifters and 2 pedals. :shifty: for nascar, it would be cool to have, but if i let go of my hand to shift in Mobil1 Rally, i'd bite that rock at the side of the road and flip the sucker.
