Tom Clancy, bestselling author, has died at 66

RIP.. I remember when hunt for red october came out in paperback, I was actually in nuke school with the navy then out in idaho. Remember how some of the stuff about reactors and subs was pretty spot on.

Have to watch the movie this weekend I think ;)

One of mine as well, DocM.  (I have most of his fiction, and have also read most of his nonfiction.)  He also lived in the DC area (his original insurance agency was also based in the DC area).  He WILL be missed.  (I was looking forward to his next book in the Ryans Cycle - I am hoping that it gets taken up by one of his co-authors; he had quite a few of those from various other series.)

I've been really busy with renovations this week and this is probably the first time I have actually looked at the news this week and my heart sunk when I found out that Tom Clancy had died. OMG I think I have just about read about all of his books. Although, TC Rainbow Six has to be one of the biggest books I have ever read. Now if you've ever read this book you'll understand where I am coming from. You needed a Crain to read it because it was so thick. He will be deeply missed in the Bookworm Community very sad to die at... well these days 66 isn't considered old to be honest he still had a lot more mileage on the clock to go.

Considering his annual income was 47.5m and was the wealthiest authors in the world and in the top 10 of the wealthiest in the world. Not bad for an insurance Broker who turned writer. I have a lot of respect for people who go from being nobody to become the greatest authors in the world.

R.I.P Tom
