xp registry rebuild

Recommended Posts

My computer was working fine but for some reason earlier today, i turned on my PC and after the windows splash screen it just hung there... same when trying to boot into safe mode. I tried repairing the MBR and boot sector but didnt work. i finally got it back up after rebuilding the registry but now it seems like it made another administrator account over the 1st but without replacing it. i can go into documents and settings, and theres 2 folders, "Administrator" and "Administrator.*pcname*". it says im running under Administrator, but nothing is where it should be. if i navigate through the Administrator folder its everything i had before the registry rebuild and administrator.pcname is what im running now which has nothing, its like turning on the computer for the 1st time, i have to actually go through the administrator folder to get my files... is there anyway i can merge the two so i can have everything back to where it should be?

I've tried checking the user accounts but theres only 1 administrator account in there. am i just stuck to cut and pasting everything bit by bit till i have it how i like? =/

Hklm/software/microsoft/windows nt/user profile list.

Look for the wrong profile and change the path to the right profile.
