It?s official: The Simpsons will outlive us all.

Fox has renewed the still-potent ?toon for a 26th season, the network announced Friday.

Last Sunday?s Season 25 premiere ranked as the No. 1 entertainment program of the night among adults 18-49 and was up 12 percent year-over-year.

?For more than a quarter of a century, The Simpsons has captured the hearts and minds of fans in a way that transcends ages, languages and cultures,? said Fox prez Kevin Reilly. ?This groundbreaking series is not only the longest-running scripted show in television history, it?s one of the greatest sitcoms of our time, and I?m looking forward to yet another landmark season.?

Is this the thread where the haters come and whine about how the Simpsons isn't any good any more and how they wish it was cancelled? They act like they are forced to watch it at gunpoint, but really they just want to whine and get attention because it's apparently considered cool to not like something.

Anyway I still love the show and I think it's a lot better than most of the trash on TV these days. Here's a tip though, if you don't like it change the channel.

I've been enjoying The Simpsons more recently and found the last season to be very strong.

I agree it's been quite good lately

I used to love watching the Simpsons when I was growing up, however about the time the movie came out, I found them to be quite... stale, to put it kindly, and it seemed the writers loved jumping the shark many times.

Maybe they've gotten better, I dunno, I just feel the show has lived on past its use-by date.

I actually watched the premiere, which is the first new episode I've watched in years and while it wasn't the best, it was surprisingly decent.  I think it's pretty awesome that they're still going strong.

I also still watch and like the show.. But, maybe its about time to age the kids a tad? Rock the boat a little? Lets see what Springfield Middle School is like. Lets see preschool for Maggie or at least get up and walk or talk.

Something?

I found the show starting to go down hill during it's teens seasons, but when they hit season 20 they started to get way better again. It's not my favorite animated series, but I still really like it. Wish they would hurry up and release the seasons on DVD quicker though.

The internet would explode if something that radical was done to The Simpsons.

They've aired something like 530+ episodes. Some were absolutely fantastic; examples of incredible writing. Some were just watchable, and some were awful.

As long as they keep making it, I wlll keep watching it and judge it on an ep-by-ep basis.

The Simpsons has had it's highs and lows.  I found around about season 20-21 it got really, really weak, but I watched a season last year (can't recall which, certainly post S21) and it was quite good.
