Environment radiation, who to contact?

Recommended Posts

Long story short, a neighborhood my mom lived in (I'll narrow that further to one road) has a lot of people with health problems. All down this road, every single house has someone with cancer, odd lumps, women who can't have kids and atleast 3 (could be more, we only know of 3) of these people including my mom with kidney transplants with no doctors explanation (for the k.t.).

This to me is too much of coincidence that this road with every house, not one or two, but the whole way down has atleast 1 or more person with these issues.

So that is what I want to ask, who do I contact? I just e-mailed an environmental lawyer to ask them but unlikely to get an answer, atleast until I can call someone tomorrow which is why I am asking, I haven't got the slightest clue who could help with this :/

Much TIA ;)

try the public health dept (or something like it), the epa, see if the library can direct you too - librarians know a ton of stuff

you might also research the companies in the area and who's been there over the years...

if you find stuff be prepared for a fight

good luck...we had a tank explode in september and no one knew what the company did or what was in the tank until afterwards

Try contacting your district head office ....

I'm sure if you phone your district office they will transfer you to a 'enviromental issues' section ....

Radish?

Thanks for the quick responses, I will drop by our local library tomorrow, ask around there and get some numbers.

It does seem like this is gonna turn into an ugly battle :/

lol, samething I said to my mom when she was telling me about the other people. I told her she was going to make a movie ;)

Maybe I should call her up and have her fight to find out things here :D

Chromium-6 by-products result from industrial processes, such as production of stainless steel, leather tanning, dyes, chrome plating, bricks, and wood preservatives. Chromium-6 is used to harden steel and produce many steel alloys. It is also used in the textile and aircraft industries. It is wear-resistant, and its attractive surface prevents corrosion. Chromium is very brittle at low temperatures. It is also hard to cast because of its high melting point of 3,452 degrees F.

Makes ya wonder if that really is the cause, I mean pittsburgh was a heavy steel manufacturing area back then, still until I can locate someone to test the area/soil/water, hopefully someone not tied to the local government, we can find an answer. I don't really want to guess about it.

I have some family that are encountering the same thing...

In a small town nearby, quite a few of the people that were my family's friends had contracted cancer... The doctors had no idea why, as they were sent to the next larger city, because the local hospital couldn't do the tests that were required... Well, according to public records, the amount of hospital admittances yearly has increased over 250% every year since 1970... Well, it just so happens, that in 1963, the city started using a new man made reservoir as it's drinking water source , and that same man-made reservoir has been used, city-wide since then...

The attorney's think that it may have taken 7 years before it started affecting the citizens of Greensburg... But who knows yet... Right now, they are just getting past the legal issues and are just preparing to do testing by spring of next year...

As for attorneys, see any law attorney, and they will point you in the right direction...

Hope this helps and good luck to you....

Smells like a potential class-action. Know who may have been operating in your area and why. Contact a local attorney who deals with environmental / class action stuff, preferably with free consultation. May take a minor bit of calling. Best of luck.
