iPod's Dirty Secret

Their batteries last for longer than 18 months and shorter than 18months..

For a person to hate a company based upon one bad experience is totally irrational. I'm not even going to explain myself on this.

iPod's batteries last far longer than 18 months. This guy's just broke.

255 bucks for a battery + labor is ridiculous.

Regardless you'd expect the lifespan of the iPod to be greater than the battery but as soon as the battery is dead, you need to buy a new iPod. That's ****ing disgusting and ruled me out of ever buying one.

http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/

enter your apple ID.

$99 to get your ipod replaced with nice new battery (they take yours, give you a refurbished one with new battery unless you have an engraved one then they just swap your battery).

seams like a fairly reasonable price. the batteries in laptops are about that price and they last for a long time - many people have 1st gen 5gb ipods still running strong today.

Thats what i call bad tech support (The guy on the phone(

But none of my friends who own first gen iPods have battery problems. Lots of portable devices have internal batteries and they tend to fail after some time. It just happens and its not only the iPod.

Its not that Apple made the iPod so that it will surely fail after 18 mths and make u pay big bucks to get it replaced

Even if it does last only 18 months, you can buy one and replace it yourself for $49, or send it off to Apple to do it for $99.

Bit of a bummer I know, but worth it for the size saving :)

That's disgusting. And I thought MS was trixy ******s, I can't wait for the Apple Fanboys come by quickly dismissing the claims. Bah - I suppose I could handle it if it was a resonably priced, but omfg, Apple = HUGELY EXPENSIVE. FFS. FFS. FFS. Oh BTW, I own a iPod, and if this happens to me some serious **** is going to hit the fan. Thank god for NZs ultra tight Consumer Gurantees Act.

GG Apple, Gee Gee :(!

I sure hope Apple puts in a user replaceable battery pack in their next generation iPod (when I'm buying one). Still I give this guy credit for going around town vandalizing. :shifty:
