A group of Boy Scout leaders is potentially facing felony charges for destroying a rock formation millions of years old in Emery County.

The trio of men was adventuring in Goblin Valley State Park when they decided to film themselves knocking over one of the formations, known as "goblins."

They said later it appeared to them that it was ready to fall and might hurt someone.

In the video, posted on Facebook, one man can be seen leveraging himself against a nearby rock and pushing a formation over.

"Some little kid was about ready to walk down here and die and Glenn saved his life by getting the boulder out of the way," the cameraman is heard saying. "So it?s all about saving lives here at Goblin Valley."

After the rock falls, the three men laugh, cheer and high five each other.

Utah State Parks officials Thursday were not so amused.

"It is not only wrong, but there will be consequences," said spokesman Eugene Swalberg, noting that a criminal investigation is underway by State Parks authorities.

"This is highly, highly inappropriate," he said. "This is not what you do at state parks. It?s disturbing and upsetting."

Swalberg said it?s rare for tourists to destroy natural formations.

Seriously fine them!!

Blatantly not any immediate danger, and if there was why not report it to the park authorities?

Likewise I`d say it took a good bit of strength and force to move it, as is clearly visible in the video.

Total gimps and asshats, cant appreciate something for what it is, have to ###### with it!! Disgusting!

they've banned tag, dodgeball, and any contact games on play grounds. They've forced warning signs on everything even when the danger is obvious such as coffee being hot. They try to ban fizzy drinks, meat, and limit the size of your car. It's clear that pushing this boulder over is the liberal thing to do.

no different than what liberals do. they destroy anything interesting in life that might be a little bit dangerous in the name of protecting people

WTF? Er, other than a very tenuous idea, I think you might be trying to spread your own rather nasty agenda.

Not to mention I think you might be getting the idea of a Health & Safety culture mixed up with being left-wing.

Tho Im also guessing by giving this credibility and answering, im playing into the trap.

Quiet how grown men who should of known better, even more so as there Scout Leaders, vandalizing a National park equates to the "Liberal agenda" is beyond me.

No matter your political view, they acted like children!

Glenn Taylor, the guy pushing the rock over, filed a lawsuit in early September over a car accident 4 years earlier, claiming to be debilitated from the accident.

Hopefully Utah is a lot like PA. This alone is a mandatory 5 year jail sentence (insurance fraud). The park vandalism would just be the icing on the cake for this guy...
