Leif
I've experienced this on my ALbook, and I've seen it on friends computers. Icons magically changing in Panther, often several at a time. they often change to a recently opened photo, or icon that is located in the dock. what is causing this? how can we relay it to apple for repair? Bling3k12
Yes, I even get this too, my hard drive loves to change it's icons all the time... one day it's a hard drive, the next it's an AAC file... I think Apple will fix this in a future update. http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ Not sure if that's the right place, but there's always http://www.info.apple.com/usen/panther/ that you could check, or the Apple Discussion Boards. Elliott
Yea, I've seen it too. iPhoto for the most part. If you just Get Info, Tab, and press Delete, it goes back to normal. I've already reported it to Apple.

lexor
lol this is so funny, I guess fast user switching isn't the only thing that was inspired by WinXP, I get that icon changing thing in XP too.
NeoMayhem
I had this happen more then once in a pre-release of panther, but never in the final.
Southern Patriot
I haven't had this exact problem, but I have had programs that I've changed the icon on randomly change back to their original icons, then back to the one I changed it to. This most often happens when I've put the icon in the dock.
the evn show
dock icons are cached somewhere wierd. the best method to change them is: 1) delete icon from dock 2) change icon 3) restart or log-out/in 4) replace icon in dock msword seams to be rather resistant to icon changing unless i do it this way. BTallack
I've had this occur to me in Expose (finder) where the Applications icon switches between the A and the Folder with the A.
