giantsnyy2002
*coughDLedUndergroundcough* um... some people actually do buy the cd's like me. I NEVER use my real cd's anymore because of one reason. Scratching. If you want proof i'll scan and post pictures of the cds. 1ceman
I dont think that would really be necessary, so have you ever ran the game with no cd in the drive?

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted November 24, 2003 Subscriber² Share Posted November 24, 2003 Lets be blunt. Patches for games are available to run without the CD. These ARE WAREZ. For the sake of arguement, lets be honest and acknowledge why they were created. There are often problems with using them, such as patching an online play. However, I freely admit I also use them, as I have a large library of purchased games, and cannot be bothered to always go find the correct disk. So, no I am not a pirate, yes I have bought the game and yes I use a no cd patch. So sue me. However, I must state that I am in no way condoning nor endorsing the use of said products. lardiop Veteran Posted November 24, 2003 Veteran Share Posted November 24, 2003 Isnt there a way I could copy the cd to my computer so I wouldnt have to use a cd? Just use something like Alcohol 120% to emulate a virtual CD Drive. I love it... Works way faster than a CD and it ain't illegal
Marduk
You can easily find the no-cd crack which is legal if you own it. PM me if you want to know where, I don't want to upset anyone who might mistake a crack site for warez right off the bat.
1ceman
I do have a virtual cd drive using I think its called deamon, or somethin close to that. So whats the process of using that instead of the actually cd drive?
quanta
Correct, NFSU wants Disc 2 in the drive when you load up, even if you selected Full "I want to play the entire game of my harddrive" Installation. As others have said, there are ways around it with no cd cracks, although they are in a legal grey area at best. Such cracks, while useful in defeating copy protection, do serve perfectly benign purposes: - you don't want to dig through your CD rack every time you want to play a game - you don't want to add wear and tear to you CD drive - you want peace and quiet if you have a loud CD drive - removing those incessant CD-checks can actually improve game performance (Morrowind is a prime example) It's interesting to note that two very popular titles, Half-Life and Neverwinter Nights, had CD-checks officially removed by their respective development companies in patches, and that gesture of goodwill has quite possibly helped make them all the more popular and attractive to buy. +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted November 24, 2003 Subscriber² Share Posted November 24, 2003 UNAUTHORISED no-cd cracks are not in a legal grey area. People have said "They are legal if you own it", don't post such utter tripe. THEY ARE ILLEGAL They have been coded by reverse engineering copywritten code, which is part of the EULA agreement that you will not do. So to clarify, anyone who uses them or creates them is breaking the EULA, which IS a contract, and so it acting illegally. With that in mind, it really isn't the biggest crime ever. trix
install the game without accepting the eula use some sorta extractor program so it installs the game with no questions asked not even the license agreement :p

By playing the game you are agreeing to the eula, it's as simple as that. Antichrist: You agree or disagree - sory mate can't tell.
