BajiRav
So to close out this unfounded rumor, Xbox One OS is doing just fine. The GAF "insider" (famosmortimer aka Pete Dodd) who started this rumor is now backtracking that he never said OS is broken and can't be fixed for launch. He is being called out on GAF along with the other guy "thuway" who both used twitter to start this rumor instead of GAF because they would've been banned otherwise. spenser.d 1 Share
DPyro
The XB1, unless I'm mistaken, has a custom hardware scalar option while from the DF post it sounds like Sony is using software to do it. If that's how it is, doing software upscaling would also have an impact on the rest of the systems performance compared to having a dedicated hardware solution which leaves the CPU and GPU out of it. The PS4 has a hardware upscaler, the author at DF was talking out of his ass, not to mention he was comparing two videos where they admitted they royally f'd up the video capture. I'd like to know more about this, Sony says "hardware" but that literally could mean using the GPU.
Jarrichvdv
Um, you must have missed the ps3 launch then. There were many early adopters that had little to no interest in gaming. It was simply the cheapest and arguably best bluray at the time. So yeah, there are scenarios where a gaming console is bought for non gaming reasons. Now that these consoles are more all-in-one machines, you will get tech enthusiasts that early adopt them, not just gaming enthusiasts. Except the PS3 costs at much as 599 or 699 (cant remember) at launch. Not really that cheap, hu?
