kjordan2001
And cheever is: Chee?ver ( P ) Pronunciation Key (chvr), John. 1912-1982. American writer who depicted life in American suburbs with humor and compassion in his short stories and novels. He won a Pulitzer Prize for The Stories of John Cheever (1978). thingsforjason
actually...wait. i think i know. cheebers is probably a misspelled version of cheeba, which many of you know is a slang word for marijuana. in which case, JB is asking sjiggag23 to lay off the marijuana (this implies that he is a use of the substance) and that he should apologize. -The (wannabe) Management
thingsforjason
and here's my on topic reply to this post. sure, it sounds like it was said by a native english speaker. it may not be those most grammatically correct paragraph in the world, but the spoken language is often screwed up. :) but on the other hand, it wasn't spoken by a native english speaker. The basic research is very important. The progressive history of mankind's modern civilization has fully proved that every major breakthrough in the basic research often causes tremendous and inestimable motivation on raising people's ability to understand and change the world, making innovation in science and technology, forming high technology industry and boosting the progress in economy and culture. The important written instructions by Gerneral Secretary Jiang Zemin on the Minutes of the 3rd Meeting of the Former Leading Group of State Science & Technology.July 22,1997. http://www.br.gov.cn/hg/hg_eng.htm So unless you happen to be Gerneral [sic] Secretary Jiang Zemin, and are planning to rewrite your instructions, I really feel no need to dissect the paragraph and bicker about the nuances of the english language. JohnsonBox
kjordan2001, cheebers refers to "cheeba", just because different dialect makes spelling different. Now you'd better lay off your cheeba. ;)
Evil Dragon
Ok, JB... I'm sure all your english is gramatically correct and perfect, and I'm also sure you know all the little details and intricacies of the english language a lot better than some of us do. However, while your paragraph was gramatically correct, it doesn't sound like a native english speaker because native english speakers don't talk in that particular fashion. For example: "I enjoy the things I like." is a gramatically correct sentence, but the likelihood of you ever finding someone using that sentence is slim to nill. DreamweaverN
Yes as that would be a pretty stupid sentance. It is assumed that you like the thinks that you enjoy. As for the first paragraph I'm sure it is correct on many levels but if it's meant to be spoken then it wouldn't sound to good.
altezza Veteran Posted November 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted November 26, 2003 Second paragraph was too long in my opinion, but right now I'm too lazy to edit the sentence :D
