No conclusions here, but, dude.....admit when you need help, and take it kindly. You'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar dude.

So your crying that you were "a friggin English major" is in fact up in the air mate. ;)

I assumed the guy(s) in NeoWin who is really good at English has not yet appeared...

You mean you assume the guys in Neowin who ARE really good at English.....

JB....having you tell us how to speak English is laughable.

    Relax mate...

Don't jump to a conclusion please.

Also, people don't jump to a conclusion.

They jump to conclusions.

Silly JB. Doesn't know to take advice from someone who knows what they are talking about. (in English, nontheless.)

I've tried to explain this very thing to him and how it makes native english speakers upset. He said he understood...

kjordan2001, cheebers refers to "cheeba", just because different dialect makes spelling different.

Now you'd better lay off your cheeba.  ;)

Can someone change the title of this thread to "You Are My Engrish Teacher, Mate"?

In regard to 'Cheeba', Websters says this.......

See the Top 10 Ask Jeeves results for "cheeba"

No entry found for cheeba.

Did you mean chebar?

God some people are argumentative. His opening post was, do you feel. Yes it could be taken as a question for help, or it could be taken that he just wanted your views.

He does not have to take your advise if he does not wish to.

The English language has many words and phrases that sound alike, and many that mean the same thing even though they look completely different.

So someone is a major. Does that mean that because you give him advise he MUST take it? I am not an English major, but i am English and live in England so i have a fair idea of how the English language works.

One last thing is, that so your an English major... and? E.G:

I am from India, and have an English major... YOU MUST TAKE NOTE OF ANYTHING I SAY ABOUT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE BECAUSE I HAVE A GOOD EDUCATION ON THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!!

BOOGSoftball, your frivolous behavior just showed us your foolishness. Cheeba is a slang usage for marijuana. Webster is retarded for this one. You'd better ask those savvy native English speakers.

@eXclusive, you will enjoy the return of what you spouted here. :)

@Spyder,

If you feel upset, just close this thread please.

he isn't asking for advice... he wants an answer to his question which was "Do you feel the paragraph below sounds like spoken by a native English speaker?"

No, it doesn't seem like it was spoken by a native English speaker. There aren't enough gramatical mistakes.

theres a diffrence between proper english, what you know and whats really used in the US, we use alot of slang, so if you come here, your have to get used to that still.

I think it's obvious that he was not truly asking for help with this post. People have tried to help him and he has done nothing but insult them. I don't know why anyone still bothers with him.

Oh, and also, the original paragraph is not correct. As already stated, he uses two tenses in one sentence.

Impersonating a mod is a bannable offense on most forums. IThat would be ironic.

It's advice, not advise. This thread is just sad. JB it does sound like it was written by someone whose native language could be english, however, it is gramatically incorrect and poorly written. You sound like you learned english out of a book instead of through interaction with others. The phrasing that you use probably hasn't been said by someone for whom english is their native language since long before it was written in your books.
