@Yosp: Sony won't ban you for connecting PS4 before launch

You can't connect to PSN if you get PS4 early?

Not yet, all it probably means is PSN isn't online yet.

As per PS3, PSN and the patch/game update servers are different. You can download a console firmware update/game update and not be on PSN.

Hmm, well that is interesting.

Well we will know shortly from these users, but that quote seems to point to not being able to connect to psn. He only ruled out banning.

Yeah, like MS, Sony is still working on psn most likely. Not surprising that they won't let any get on it now.

I agree it shouldn't have happened but **** happens in pre-release stuff. It is probably like his console got bumped off due to some white-list they have (similar to how they have for dash previews).

Don't try to defend AB and his behavior on these forums. You won't go very far with that.

If that were the case the console would have been blocked immediately. But it wasn't. The guy who had the console banned was banned after a handful of hours. That shows the ban was intentional, not some automated thing like you are trying to say. Nice try in trying to cover for microsoft though.

Just drop the bs.

It was not some evil thing. MS banned a user, they found out he was legit, found out about the retail leak, and then reached out to him to fix it. All in the span of a few hours.

Theres a major difference in getting a PS4 a day or 2 early rather than the 2-3 weeks early that these guys have got. The account will just remain banned till release date then theyll unban it. It would be stupid for them to perma ban for getting a console early which isnt there fault and obviously keen to play on it so of course there going to plug it in and play so itll get unbanned

Good job Sony! I won't get mine for another 2 weeks.. but glad to see sony is looking out!

As for those of you who think: "Zomg.. just cuz ms banned people doesn't make them evil don't post this stuff if it doesn't make MS look amazing."  Grow up, it's a ######in' game console.  Not every post has to talk about how magnificent XBone or MS is.

Its down right hilarious how some on the internet are blowing this whole thing up.  Talk about trolling on a large scale.  In effect, anyone getting their ps4 early is 'banned' from psn until launch is you believe the quote in this thread that it will be inaccessible. Same goes for the X1.

We haven't heard of anyone accessing psn early yet, so if turns out to be blocked, then in effect, Sony was ahead of MS in preparing for the possibility.  MS actually had not implemented an auto block and so the guy gets on XBL and uses it, then is banned from XBL access after they discover it.

Its all much ado about nothing.

The best thing you can do is ignore that stuff.  There are plenty of threads talking about how crappy both consoles are :p

Also have you noticed how its MS that majoritively announces things or things happen to them first then Sony announces something after putting them in a positive light? its like there waiting to see how people respond to what MS have done then do whatever it takes to make them look good whilst putting the hurt on MS so the only thing sony is looking out for is themselves, its definately not you the consumer

That's some conspiracy talk and some people wont take kindly to that kind of talk.

Or maybe they're just answering questions honestly and the internet can take it badly like they did for many of the FAQ answers.

lol @ the last part of that post though. Cause Microsoft/Nintendo/Valve/Apple etc are doing this all for the consumer and not because they're a business.

Just as the internet has taken the MS stuff today.  That vocal minority makes this whole thing less enjoyable for the rest of us.

All these companies are in it for profit, to make profit, they need to make us, the consumer happy.  If we are happy, they are happy due to sales.  So MS and Sony want to make us happy because its a win for them.

Now can we move on from this wasted argument.

How about we get hyped for the next gen!  I mean its less than a week for the ps4 and less than two weeks for the x1 in the US, flip that around oversees.  We are very close now guys.

I would love to get to see a complete demo of the UI, especially how things work while playing a game, minus the psn stuff of course.

Hopefully any early users can at least download the day one update so we get some info on how that works and what it changes. The X1 leaks told us useful info regarding that along with game sizes.

When you buy a game on Steam before release date you can install it but you can't play it. You don't get banned for trying to play it early, you simply can't do it. There's no reason that Microsoft couldn't have done the same with the XB1, by either blocking access to XBL or not allowing users to download the firmware update. I mean, that's exactly what Sony has done by not allowing users to access PSN. Instead Microsoft created a PR nightmare, which Sony was able to capitalise on.

Microsoft should have been prepared for this, yet instead we've seen the company progress from one blunder to another.

Its a console ban, not gamertag. In effect, all ps4's an x1's are banned from psn and xbl as of this moment.

MS' only mistake was to actually allow xbl access for a few hours instead of having a block already in place already. Does this really need to continue?

Anyway, they are doing right by him for the inconvenience.
