launching programs from a web page

Does anyone know how to launch a program from a link on a web page without all that stuff about running from current location or downloading, I just want to run it. This is only to be used on a single PC so I have no need to worry about security. Any help would be great!

If your using IE 5.5 or 6.0 you could make the target like c:program filesblahblah.exe or wherever the program location is. Im pretty sure that will work.
