Ironman273
So with the Xbox One I'm going to try to completely unplug from the Apple TV. The apps are fine since I can get Netflix and YouTube (among others), but the only way I truly abandon it is to allow access to all my movies I have stored on the NAS. Apparently there is a solution that works, but I don't understand it: Create a symlink to the nas (i use a dns-323) e.g.: mklink/D C:\Symlinks\Music \\192.168.2.2\volume_1\home\media\music then create a Junction point to the symlink e.g.:: mklink/J C:\Music C:\Symlinks\Music * replace the ip with the ip of your nas or its name. you can make the symlink anywhere but make sure you point the junction point to it.and then just add the junction point to your library.tell me if this works from here Could someone try to explain it to me in a way that I can understand? He references music but I specifically have a Movie folder and a TV folder that I'd like MS Video to access.
Dinggus
I don't know if the Xbox One can see Plex, but I know my Xbox 360 could see it. That's how I would watch my movies/TV shows was from my iMac with the Plex Server hooked up, and then used the Xbox 360 down stairs. Just add all media files to the server. DConnell Member Posted November 29, 2013 Member Share Posted November 29, 2013 Tversity might do the trick. It's designed for streaming to the 360, but works with other UPnP-compliant devices. I use it to share to my tablet and my XBMC XBOXes as well as my 360s. Just run it on your computer, add the folders on your NAS to Tversity's library. The only potential issue I'd see is that you'd have a lot of network activity - from your NAS to your PC for TVersity to stream it (and possibly transcode) and then streaming back out to your X1. It's not an issue for me, since I keep my media on my desktop/media server, but bandwidth could be an issue. TVserity can adjust the stream to suit your bandwidth, but that's at the cost of quality. It works for my situation, but some testing might be in order. But it's not an expensive program to try at least.
xendrome
So right now, the XBox one can't see any DLNA servers, but you can use an app like Skifta on Android and push DLNA content from the DLNA device to the Xbox One.
#Michael
While far from perfect it seems that people have had some success with getting plex to work on the xbox one: https://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/78689-plex-on-xbox-one/ https://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/87245-xbox-one-dlna-problems/ Seems there is a lot of interest in an official app for the xbox one platform. Ironman273
OK, so apparently there's no way to pull content on the Xbox One. It can be pushed from the PC through DLNA and people are using mobile apps like Skifta to start the push. I want to be able to browse the directory where I have my movies, pick the movie I want and start playing it. Basically what the AppleTV does.
