How to stay awake...

Recommended Posts

A significant other would be handy as well. Kept me up all nite one time.

Loud music like hard rock or techno, play some Aphex Twin full blast. Water and lots of movement is key too.

Cheers

I have to pull an all-nighter tonight because I'm an idiot. Whenever I need to stay up all night, I drink a can of pepsi every 1 and half to 2 hours.

If you have time, take an hours nap: but make sure you set an alarm!!! This is the best thing to do, and you always feel much better for it: even if it is only 30 mins or so. (I reccomend an hour or so, though)

Otherwise, as previously suggested, it's got to be pro-plus washed down with Red Bull. Or both.

Pro-Plus with RedBull chaser is a sure-fire way to stay up. However, It is incredibly important to make sure u get REM sleep once in a while if not then even if you keep hydrated, eat, and have short naps, it will still cause u to have SERIOUS mental problems, IE lack of concentration, lack of memory, even hallucinations, and paranoia.

Either way good luck! ^_^

From my personal experiences, I can't say anything different than all ready mentioned above. Energy drinks might help, also caffeine and sugar, loud music, and yes even a friend hitting you if you fall asleep. Or you could also try taking naps. This all worked for me, ever since I made a new friend last spring/summer, I've been hanging out more at nite and staying up later than usual. Trust me, these ideas work. But don't neglect sleep when you know you really need it.

I suppose it all depends on the kind of person you are...

No matter how much caffeine I have or how much sleep I get I'm always as dopey as hell

Whereas my friend... if he has the smallest amount of sugar he'll be hyper for the next two hours.

Ah well

That's life

when im tired and i NEED to go out, i just take a ritalin/concerta pill. No sleep for sure. (I have adhd so i easily have access to large quantities). Well you could also take ritalin in another way but now im on concerta and you cant :(

Ritalin

What is adhd?

Personally I find marijuana to do the job quite well.

you people are gonna rot out your insides :p

your body knows what it's doing. if you don't sleep when it's telling you you need sleep, you can't properly rejuvinate and can have major health problems as well as mental ones (unable to conentrate, hallucinations, etc) because if you don't get enough REM sleep than your body starts taking every opportunity it can to get the REM sleep, and hallucinations start happening

inject coca cola directly into your veins :o :ninja:

Take that as humor, but don't do it. Instant suicide. When carbon from carbinated water goes to your heart, it pretty much stops it right there. Instant suicide.

Perhaps too late for the specific instance, but even a 15 minute nap can make a big difference when needed.

In general, best thing one can do is keep up-to-date on one's sleep. If you can't do just 15 minutes for a nap (after which one will outright tap into sleep debt and "feel" more tired afterward), one needs to sleep in at *least* hour-based intervals the way things naturally work.

Caffeine, tobacco, sugar and stuff will just mess you up even more, ultimately.

If you're *really* pushing severe sleep deprivation, the way you make decisions, think, act, etc., often isn't worth "going out" unless absolutely necessary, and even then, get someone else to drive and such. Lack of sleep can impact you even worse than being outright drunk, though you're likely less outright aware of it.

Anyway, you can't *really* cheat sleep. Average 8-9 hours per day, whenever possible sleeping as long as you can until you just can't sleep anymore, and you're far better off in the long-run. Regular sleep / wake schedule can also have a huge impact.

Ultimately, for something like this, even a 15-minute nap would have been very significantly a "positive" thing to do.
