freeza
probably in hidden files....in the c directory there can be one file that takes up a lot. that is hibersys.sys (or hibernate.sys correct me if im wrong) that is the file that if your computer should hibernate all your ram contents are stored in. it generally is the same size as the amount of ram you have in your system. that could be the cause. or just hidden files in general
Roger H. Veteran Posted January 23, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2002 yeah.. that too.. and the Pagefile that Windows uses. My Pagefile (pagefile.sys) was 1.2GB on the C: drive so i always used to turn it off because i had 768MB PC-133 mem. Now i got 256MB PC2100 (266mhz) so i need it now. bjarkekr
I have turened off system restore. I can see hidden files. Then there is my pagefile... I cant seem to find it. I did a search of my c drive and all it found was pagefileconfig.vbs. Can somebody tell me where it is??? But still. When I can see hidden files it should be in the count when I right click everything in my c: root, shouldn't it. I mean even if its hidden it should be in the count, when I can see hidden files.... StimpyX
Um, also make sure you're not hiding protected operating system files (another Folder Option View setting). The page file would be in the root of your drive partition(s).
Zombie9920
If you right click on your desktop and click properties(Go to the display properties), click on the Screen Saver tab, click the power button, click on the hibernate tab and uncheck Enable Hibernation that will free up hard drive space(space freed up will be equal to your amount of System RAM).
