Michael Schumacher fighting for his life after skiing accident

Recommended Posts

isn't this how Liam Neesons wife died?

Natasha Richardson (Neeson's wife) died of a slowly expanding epidural hematoma, experiencing symptoms for some time after the injury and deteriorating over time. Sadly, the Ski Patrol called an ambulance to the scene but it was declined on arrival.

Schumacher likey has a similar injury to Richardson, the impact causing a bleed around the brain. A lot depends on how fast he made it to the ER and had his surgery.

Sonny Bono was probably dead on impact with a tree, though there are conspiracy theories that he was murdered by bludgeoning.

Critical condition?! I saw the news headline earlier but didn't read further because I just assumed it was a broken leg or something at the worst. Sure hope he's okay.

agreed. he picked a "safer" sport for a career compare to the one for leisure.

Not when he started when formula 1 actually was Formula ONE, the ultimate car sports, as fast and maneuverable as you could make them. Now it's just somewhat fast speed as long as it doesn't cost so all the wannabe makers can join or isn't to unsafe so the drivers who would chose to drive the ultimate dangerous car sport aren't in danger... Bah. Might as well watch formula 3000 or carts instead of this crap. There's more speed and development in GT now, formula 1 manufacturer championship makes no sense anymore.

It's typical, the amount of danger that people like him are exposed to in their line of work and he gets brained doing a leisure activity.

their line of work? He wasnt working, just simply went skiing for a bit of fun and hit a rock.

Common? That link only came up with one name as Michael. And saying he predicted it would be Michael becuase its common is stupid.

That link had a whole thread of famous people named Michael, several or one of them at least I believe are known to have a deadly disease they are fighting. Michael schumachers name wasn't mentioned in that long thread until after the accident. So I'd say Michael is a very common name.

That prediction was so general it was bound to come true, Michael is a common name, and there are hundreds of celebrities with the name, many old. And I'm sure if you check you'll find someone "famous" called Michael dies several times a year, it was a fairly safe bet/prediction.

Nice to hear that after a second operation overnight, doctors think they're seeing an overall improvement in his condition - still far, far too early to tell and obviously he's still in the medically induced coma - but a shred of good news in this terrible situation.

I hope he recovers, despite what people may think, he's a good ambassador to Formula 1, and genuinely a nice guy. I hope he recovers, and there's been good news that he is improving after surgery.

You don't think there are a lot of famous Michaels around the world?

Someone called Christopher is going to die this year...God damn I'm a psychic!

Michael Schumacher stable in hospital after skiing injury

Michael Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, says the seven times Formula 1 world champion's condition has remained stable overnight in hospital in Grenoble following his skiing accident on Sunday morning.

Kehm, Schumacher's long-time press aide, said there will be no official comment from his neurosurgery team on Wednesday as has been the case for the past two days.

"Michael's condition has been carefully supervised all the night and has remained stable also this morning," said Kehm.

"For the moment, the good news for today is that we will not hold a press conference because there are no significant changes.

"Still, the condition overall is critical."

Schumacher suffered cerebral contusion and edema plus lesions to his brain when he fell while skiing in Mirabel in the French alps on Sunday.

Doctors reported a slight improvement in his condition on Tuesday, having been able to perform a second operation to reduce pressure in his brain on Monday night.
