Re-Mapping Homefolders

Recommended Posts

So we recently started migrating remote site server data to our main office. This has meant changing all our remote sites users homefolder location in AD from \\remoteserver\username to \\headoffice\username but when we have then come to reapply the folder redirection GPO we have come to a problem. After migrating the data we initially set the new homefolder in AD and then expected the GPO to just refresh the folder redirects we have on my documents etc but this didn't work. After looking at the logs we saw the redirect was failing because it couldn't see the old server (we had turned it off to avoid confusion with old and new paths) - attached is the error. Turning the old server back on and allowing the PC to see the old location while setting the new location works but isn't what we want. Does anyone know of a work around in this situation? Is there a way we can turn the old server off and force folder redirects to reapply without seeing the old location.
