What is the best linux distro for me? i want a linux distro that includes all the dev tools and libraries so i can easly install apps with "./configure make make install " I also want one that configs all your hardware for you and has alot of hardware support. One that comes with alot of little games. and has mp3 and video support.

Distros ive tried

1.Mandrake (I liked mandrake but alot of apps in the app menu were broken links and i heard the new version has alot of bugs)

2.redhat (it was okay i liked mandrake better thou)

3.fedora (no mp3 or video support but other then that its awsome)

4.slackware (didn't install my drivers)

5.mepis (was good but didn't have dev tools to install/compile downlaoded programs)

anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like SUSE might be a good choice for you. It (like Mandrake and Fedora) is RPM based so you really shouldn't need to do ./configure and make all that often. Unless of course you like doing things that way.

Also, maybe check out the Ars which distro thread or the Neowin version.

FYI, mp3 support and (by video I assume you mean DVD) video support can be installed in any distro.

? Just apt-get the xmms-mp3 plugin and xine or mplayer

I've been using Fedora for the past few days and personally love it.
