Bill Gates Spending Money

I agree. You can bash Microsoft all you want, but they have some top quality products. MS software feels very solid and stable and they "feel" right when you use them.

Bash ms all you want, but considering the massive amount of compatibility they have with old products, windows is damn good, especially XP. Think of the amazing amount of hardware & software they support. No one else even comes close.

never had a virus, never been hacked, never got compromised by the RPC vulnerability :)

Well, I know you were affected by the loss of bandwith caused by the sheer mass of MSBlast spreading

My guess is that this was a troll by a Linux Loser.

The thing is that writing secure software is VERY hard to do. It's almost impossible to consider all the ways a user will interact with a programme in a NON-malicious way, let alone malicious intent.

The Linux crowd like to throw stones at Windows... but Windows gets hit because:

(a) It's popular

(b) Viral attacks, security exploits, etc. only get noticed when they affect the public (and notoriety is a big motivator to the losers who write malicious code)

The Linux crowd likes to believe that because you don't hear about Linux exploits that they are more secure... this is completely false. Were Linux to be used by the mainstream (i.e. if people were interested in using it at all) then you'd start hearing about exploit after exploit. Remember that the first hard-hitting, widespread viral attack that made the news was the RTM worm of '88 which exploited... UNIX. UNIX (and it's derivatives) are a bag of holes - we're STILL seeing exploits for SendMail; they just don't make the news because by and large no one is really interested.

I use Microsoft products at home because they work; they do the job and they do it well.

I use Microsoft products at work for the same reasons and because I don't buy into the communist bull**** propagated by the OSS crowd that code should be free. These idiots want all software to be free - so how are coders such as myself supposed to make a living? Their answer is by charging for tech support. What they don't want you to see is the fatal flaw in that model...

Each and every call to tech support SHOULD be seen as a failing on the part of the company; for whatever reason, the product has failed - either by not performing its designed task or because it has presented a barrier to the user that prevents them from using the product in some way. The goal then is to fix the software to remove such bugs or barriers. In the OSS "tech support" model, where is the incentive to make a better product? If they improve their product they reduce the number of support calls they get and they eventually go under. Under this model, making a superior product is a SURE-FIRE way of killing your business and the ONLY way such a model can work is by deliberately NOT making a superior product; in fact, the incentive is there to make software HARDER to use.

So you see; I support Microsoft because they make software, they pay the people who make that software, they provide a core around which other companies can make software and employ developers, and if I make the product better, the company BENEFITS from it, I benefit from it and the customer benefits from it. The OSS model is thinly-veiled communism that promises to produce inferior software and put thousands of people OUT OF WORK.

please do not forget that linux has also many holes and the kernel is often updated because of security stuff

I can call them whatever I want - that's the wonder of free speech. By and large there's far more finger-pointing and name-calling coming form the Linux community than the Windows community.

no acctually you can't.

why on earth would you think that free speech has any weight on a privately owned and operated forum?

i use ms products cause.. well.. other then the os i don't. well i do use notepad i guess.

It's rather pointless what you say really... because I already SAID it and it's already OUT THERE, so that alone says... "Yeah... I can."

Now sit down and be a good boy.

free speech laws don't allow you the ability to say anything you want, just the fact your an idiot. using that logic i can go around killing people, i'll shoot em, it'll be done, so i can.

if you can say whatever you want, then why is the rules on the board and moderators? you'd think they wouldn't be all that useful if you could just run around saying whatever you pleased. why would any topics need to be locked / removed, posts wouldn't need to be editted either.

simple, you can't post anything you want, its a private forum with rules.

... with rules you clearly don't understand as the post remains on the board and no moderators have commented on it. Ergo, the post was within the rules of the board. You don't have to like it but if it's that big a deal in your life to have my posts modded down then apply to be a moderator and mod me down if you want.

... as opposed to?

Why do you like making crap posts? How much dollars costing grammar checkers for fixing? An examples: spelling, punctuatIon, graMmar, etc...
