Jason the Eighty Eighth
hey, yesterday when i installed Unreal 2, it seems to work fine. in fact, i managed to run the game, got through a movie with excellent graphics, and there were absolutely no problems at all. however, once proceeding, the game will eventually freeze, and gives a blue screen (with no text). in addition, i tried playing Unreal Tournament 2003, and the same error occurs. once playing for a while, it has the same effects, the game freezes for 2 or so seconds, and the blue screen shows up. uncoincidentially, these two games are made by Atari. i'm using a Powercolor Raedon 9600 Pro. i installed the default drivers that came with the CD, and i assume these drivers are not the newest. should i download the new Catalyst 3.9? from the Powercolour site or the ATI site? in fact, will installing new video card drivers potentially help solve the problem? i tried GTA 3, Generals, MOHAA, no problems at all. thanks. i'm really annoyed at the moment  /edit/ after reading http://www.ati.com/support/includes/titles/fixed.html, the new driver doesn't seem to fix the problem :( Edited November 30, 2003 by Jason the Eighty Eighth

rvbfan
 Of course, keep video card drivers up to date if you have any problems. :D

Jason the Eighty Eighth
ok - downloading them now. another thing, when installing should you delete the TEMP directory and run Regcleaner to remove all old ATI entries?

Bizkit
Try the Omega drivers. They made NFS:U run alot better, and also America's Army. Here is the link: Omega Corner

Jason the Eighty Eighth
but Unreal 2 & UT2K3 isn't that GPU stressing. how come i can play any other game (much newer games, as opposed to a game made in 2002), but not Atari games? also, my video card is just a week old, and i assume it is not overheated. are you sure this is the problem? in fact, i can manage to play GTA3 without any problems. and if your theory is true (GTA3 is more GPU stressing than UT2K3), then overheating should not be the problem. i contacted ATi support & Atari support last night. pmh
Try going to Device Manager and deleting The display adapters. After that do a reboot. Then Install the latest drivers, either the official ones, or omega. Then do another reboot and you should be good.
Jason the Eighty Eighth
^ that doesn't work. yesterday i uninstalled all my drivers, rebooted, uninstalled control panel, reboot, install the new drivers, reboot and the new control panel. no luck. if you go to Google > Groups and google: raedon +"blue screen" +"unreal tournament 2003" - the first post should very well describe my problem. i can't go there as i'm at campus and Google groups are filtered.
