aaron901
so **** happened.. i accidentally spilled some water on my powerbook, thank god it's not some juices or coke.. anyway i dried everything and tried to boot, it worked fine. but now the battery is dead. i can boot the machine only when the power adapter is plugged in, but it shows the battery is fully charged in OSX. so do you guys know anything that can be done before i take it to Apple Center? Chicane-UK Veteran Posted November 30, 2003 Veteran Share Posted November 30, 2003 Clean up any trace of the water and just act suprised and dismayed that your Powerbook has packed up so early into its life ;)
matric
*Cue Monotone Voice* "I'm sorry, but water damage isn't covered by the warrenty and you will in fact need to pay for repairs to your Powerbook"
matric
Seriously though, I think the 2nd post said it all. Once the water is cleaned up, go into the store and Rant on and on. Eventually they will usually do something for you, if it will at least shut you up. Be adamant that there was no water.

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted November 30, 2003 Veteran Share Posted November 30, 2003 If it's 3 weeks old, you're under warranty, and may be able to get something out of them. I'd visit a local Apple store or call them up and see what you can do.
Elliott
I was gonna, but the screw heads are tiny, never seen a screwdriver to undo them as so small Those are T8 screws. I found a screwdriver for them at CompUSA. But you're still covered under warranty, so just take it to your nearest Apple retailer. They may be able to help you. lewisames
I will but the nearest centre is in Oxford street, london or stansted. Both are about 50 miles away, atleast an hour 30 each way on trains. I dont think liquid damage is covered under warrenty, as far as i can make out its not... aaron901
i'm in malaysia right now, the nearest Apple store is very very very far away.. i don't wanna spend a few hundred bucks to fly there to find out this can be fixed easily. :/ so is bring-it-to-an-Apple-store the only way to go? lewisames
Lewis Unfortunately accidental damage is not covered in the manufacturers guarantee, we recommend bringing the Pc into our service desk based in the Fitted Kitchens/ Electrical department on the ground floor, they will have to send the product back to the Apple repair centre for a repair or replacement to be obtained, if there is a charge they will be able to quote for this prior to any work being carried out. Audio/ Television John Lewis Welwyn I emailed the place where i purchased this from, this is good news right? Anyway will take in at the weekend. Also, I have a friend that lives in Kuala Lumpur if thats any help, dont think it is but anyway. Cheers, Lewis Ames
