Question

neos    0

Hey,

Im on 56K(I cant get high-speed), and when I connect I never pass 24.6kbps. I have all the right drivers. Ive tried both of my modems, an AOpen, and an Actiontec. My average download speed it 2.5KB. What is going on? Im running WinXP Pro.

it is more than likely your phone lines.

At my store I have to use dialup an i NEVER get any speeds faster than 26.4 kbps. call your local phone company and tell them your problem maybe they can replace the old lines.

Your download speed is right for what your connecting at. A 56K modem won't download at 56K a sec. The top speed for them is 5.6K a sec. Just the way it is. Sorry I don't have any more info in my head right now but I'll try to get back and post more info.

I hope you didn't just "divide by ten" to get 5.6, because that sure as hell doesn't sound right.
