[DGS]
here's what happened: When i first visited oneandone.co.uk website and seen the prices and the services they have i thought they are pretty good. so i joined them, registered 3 domains with them, of which one is a .co.uk one. a few days later i purchased a webspace package with a different company, and i was sent my login details for my .co.uk domain etc, along with instructions saying that i need to contact my domain name registrar, in this case oneandone.co.uk to update my dns entries (nameserver). when i called oneandone, i was told that they will simply not do it for .co.uk domains. specifically .co.uk domains ! i was told that "that's the reason they're so cheap" by their support rep. i told the rep that i wanted to cancel and he said "cancellation" is only possible for complete hosting packages, not for domain names, so i they won't give me any money back. i also asked them how long it would take to update the dns entries for, say, a .com. the rep's response was "i don't know, we are not given any deadline. 1-2 days, maybe more, i wouldn't know". now that is one horrible service, i advice anyone wishing to register a domain/buy webspace to avoid them at all costs. there are many good providers out there, and oneandone isn't one of them. avoid at all costs.
forster
Yep - pretty crappy, always best to check with them exactly what you want to use their services for. I knew that people would be coming back disappointed with them after the amount of advertising Neowin gave them. (N) Pretty cruddy

slysy
I had the same problem but in my case I asked to cancel with one and one, and they gave me a refund but I still kept the domain which I then transferred to another provider at no cost. Theres an option to cancel is the control panel thingy, I would give that a try regardless of what the person you spoke to said (it worked for me!) ultrastar
No...no... I wouldn't recommend to anyone using their services. I've had exactly the same problem myself. What's the point in paying for cheap domains when you can't do anything with them. It's pathetic, and they should at least be kind enough to let ppl know when signing up. The starting post of this thread says it all: AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! -MP
ElectricDemon
Using them here for my webspace, and I've had no problems as yet (fingers crossed). I guess with all web domain name packages there are positive and negative sides..
40420_1437839287
I get my domain(s) registered from UK2.net Have hosting elsewhere at the moment, but UK2 do some good deals. There's no support staff etc, but its so darn simple to use that you can't have any problems !!!!

Simple really, works... email (alias) forwarding works. I have no quarms with them, but hey. I ain't asking for a lot! ;) ... oh, and it cost about a fiver for a .Co.uk domain. Can't really argue Me thinks! :D

ultrastar
 MMXCON perhaps you should read the thread thoroughly; the problem with oneandone *******s is that they will not change DNS entries for .co.uk at ALL. Translation: "your .co.uk is only usable (properly) if you have the webspace hosted by us". What a load of **** that is, forcing their customers to buy webspace from them. In the case of .coms (and .nets, .biz, etc - the more expensive ones) they WILL do it, but it's far from professional to tell a customer what soul2keep posted: "can take up to two weeks coz we are doing you a favour". Companies like this shouldn't make it through a single night. So imho, if you don't wanna run into trouble, don't do bizz with them. :x - Uz
