DirtyLarry Veteran Popular Post Posted February 7, 2014 Veteran Popular Post Share Posted February 7, 2014 This morning I am not sure why or how, but I had realized I had not heard from BeLGaRaTh from here for quite some time. When I started looking into the last time he was active on this site, I saw it had actually been much longer than I thought it was. I then checked his activity on XBox Live and PSN, and it was also a very long time. February of last year to be exact. I immediately felt awful it took me pretty much a year to realize I had not talked to him in awhile. For those that did not know, he had some pretty serious health conditions. No need to go into any details, but needless to say, it has been confirmed that he passed away at the age of 45 last year. Exactly a year ago actually. He was a really great guy. I always found it amazing how he basically took the awful cards that he was dealt and made the most of it as best as he could. He was incredibly generous as well. Always hooking me up with something game related just because he could. Really sucks to find out he did pass away. It sucks even more to realize it has taken me so damn long to realize it. I feel ashamed for sure. R.I.P. BeLGaRaTh And if anyone is questioning why this is in the Gamers Hangout, this was the place he was most active in, and he truly loved video games. Loved them. So I only think it is appropriate we honor his memory in the section of the website that he was most active in. If a Mod feels otherwise, feel free to move this thread. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 7, 2014 Veteran Share Posted February 7, 2014 I have pinned this topic in his memory as he truly was one of the nicest guys I've ever met on Neowin and this subsection was definitely his home on the site. It's really hard to put into words the emotions right now. DL and I have only just discovered what has happened to him so we are still coming to terms with it. As Larry said, he was in poor health a lot but he was never bitter or depressed over it. He was always such a delight to play with on XBL/PSN and he had an amazing upbeat atitude to life. I haven't spoke to him in some time which wasn't uncommon due to his health, but my fears started growing and were confirmed today. I'm really going to miss him and I know a lot of the older GH crew will feel the same. RIP BeLGaRaTh. You will truly be missed. +hedleigh, Denis W., Charisma and 6 others 9 Share
xendrome
I feel like we need some type of Badge for members profiles that have died, just to show recognition/memory of them. Elliot B., philcruicks, kurupy and 10 others 13 Share

techbeck
Happened to me last year with one of my friends. Lost touch for a year or so and then got a msg from someone i didnt know telling me that she died a few months prior. I didnt even know she was sick. Makes you think...dont sweat or worry about the little stuff and lead a good life. Any complaining, hate, or negativity does nothing in the grand scheme of things. Anyway, I didnt know the guy but I know how how his friends/family feel. Shocker at first, but things will get easier. Take care...

riahc3
Hello, I feel like we need some type of Badge for members profiles that have died, just to show recognition/memory of them.Well, are there other known cases of members who are now dead? Been here since 2003 and this is the first case Ive read... Here is his member profile: https://www.neowin.net/forum/user/476-belgarath/ Last post: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1136998-logo-of-the-next-xbox-leaked/#entry595527112 Last topic: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1121694-expand-site-option-disappeared-site-looks-like-crap-now/#entry595344186 I remember his name but never really anything he wrote about. Pretty disturbing that we lost a Neowin member :( I agree FULLY for a badge for dead members. Irrelevent of their status.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 7, 2014 Veteran Share Posted February 7, 2014 Neowin has been home to many thousands of people over the years so I am sure it is not the first time we have lost someone. This is the first member in our close circle I can think of losing though. I still see past members who don't visit Neowin anymore on other sites and on XBL/PSN/Steam/Twitter; it's just nice to know they are still out there even if we don't talk much now. For the best part of 8 or 9 years we have been a really tight group of friends. We'd all buy the same games and play every night for hours and hours. I'll be treasuring those memories with BeLGaRaTh, as we were usually the last Brits to still be online late at night at 6am when the American guys were going to bed  snaphat (Myles Landwehr), Yusuf M., Praetor and 2 others 5 Share
