compl3x
There's junk mail, and then there's nasty mail: San Francisco writer Lisa McIntire says Bank of America sent her a credit card offer addressed to "Lisa Is A Sl*t McIntire," and she posted photos of it on Twitter on Thursday. BofA tweeted her an apology and pledged to investigate. McIntire, 32, told the Los Angeles Times in a phone interview that she first learned about the mail in a text exchange with her mother, which she posted on Twitter. Shadrack
Is slut not an appropriate term here? Although offensive, I never really thought of it as a curse word.

Nogib
But I don't see her denying or contesting the statement that she is a slut. So maybe BoA was right all along. The Evil Overlord 1 Share

FloatingFatMan
Clearly, someone who doesn't like her filled out a fake application and sent it in. Machine's process these things, not people. No need for BoA to apologise for the actions of someone else. ZakO 1 Share

There absolutely was a need for BoA to apologise, as it should have had systems in place to prevent such obvious abuse. There are numerous ways to cross-references names and addresses, plus such a name should have been flagged up for review. If BoA's automated systems aren't up to the task then that's their problem. +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share

I think BoA has already fired the group that does their mailing for them. Believe me BoA does not produce these. They send an order to a third party with the text and approved layout. The third party then sends these out. BoA needed to apologize. This has their name on it.

No need for BoA to apologise for the actions of someone else. Why BoA doesn't need to apologize? The application goes through BoA therefore by default BoA inspected and approved the name and all other details. If that person copied BoA's letter head and actual content, sending it to the recipient directly, then BoA does not need to apologize. How hard for a computer to filter out offensive words? Very hard, if it's not been programmed to do so by the 3rd party BoA employed to do the mailshot.
