Great Scot! Doctor Who alumna Karen Gillan has landed the lead role in the ABC comedy pilot Selfie, TVLine has learned.

Penned by Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek, the single-camera project follows Eliza Dooley, a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with ?likes? than being liked. After suffering a very public, very humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media ?followers? than she ever imagined? but for all the wrong reasons. Eliza then enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.

The catch? According to the good folks at HitFix, Gillan will not be using her native Scottish accent.

wow those Execs are so hip and with it and pop n fresh, arent they. Americans cant handle a scottish accent either, right? :rolleyes:

wow after watching the trailer it looks absolutely horrible. too bad they have a good cast.

Damn, Cho and Karen and fun actors, Karen obviously has a lot of sex appeal, shame they have ended up in what appears to be a very average premise to start a comedy from.

Selfie? Such an annoying word and concept. I know this show is targeted at millennials/the "app" generation. Hopefully this show gets canceled promptly and is replaced by a series about something more interesting. Anything, even potato farming.
