devBrian
Uh, if you flee the USA, any warrant for your arrest stays put. You'll be caught eventually.
Deckhand
Im not exactly sure, but in some countries they are cooperative with the U.S. feds, and im sure they will hand you over or even look for you. but i am not sure how this works
jacob_
but if its another country it would be considered international borders so they couldnt come into cananda to look for a person right? (usa looking..) if ur gone so many years ur considered dead though right? thats what i though anyways.. kinda like faking ur death
devBrian
but if its another country it would be considered international borders so they couldnt come into cananda to look for a person right? (usa looking..) Canada is in cahoots with the USA, so Mounties'd be on your ass.

HellBender
Yup, there's no running from the feds. Mexico might be a better alternative since there's less organization there.. You could spend a couple years in mexico, find a "host" family, create a new identity (with a new mom and pop) and then legally go to a different country (such as canada).. Even with a new identity, there's enough data that there's still a chance the US will figure out who you are and arrest you. It really matters how big the crime is-- if you have a warrant on you for prancing around naked in public, it's going to be much easier to escape than if you have one for killing someone while prancing around naked. VazaGothic
If you're endangered with death penalty you can flee to Mexico - it does not extradict people who can be get death penalty in the US. Anyway - why is the US looking for you ? What did you do ?
cyclingplatypus
The best country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with America (or anyone else for that matter) is Switzerland. Although depending on your crime and if the place you commited it is seeking the death penalty there are a few more countries that won't extradite you because they don't condone the death penalty. However even if you do flee the country and live the rest of your life looking over your shoulder, will you actually have lived your life?
jacob_
well what if it was just for theft or grand theft... what would be a good place to bounce to? and if u went to a different country how would you get a ID for the country along w/ the proper things in order to get a job and place to live.. CoolCatBad
You mean Statute of Limitations regulations. From what I've seen it depends on the State in which the alleged crime was comitted. Just read of a major art theft in Mass. which cannot be now prosecuted because it was 6 years ago. Federal cases are given SoL values of usually 5 years, but depends on the crime. You must find a country which has no, or limited extradition arrangements with US, so local authorities will have no reason to come after you. jacob_
if someone lived in ex. ohio and commited a theft/grand theft and ran... how long would you have to wait b4 you could come back to ohio..
cyclingplatypus
Best bet would be to get a good lawyer and try to fight the charge (i.e. extreme mental defect, etc). If that fails when you get to prison I hear the secret is to either kick a big guys ass or become someones bitch. However, if your under 18 the penalty isn't as bad as an adult (unless you've killed someone). Oh yeah, if you get that prison one I would suggest having someone kick your ass real good and give you a few bruises and a black eye (see 25th Hour) so you look tough when you walk in. cyclingplatypus
Not to flame...but why would you want to go back to Ohio? And I would also advise(if you are serious about all this) that you go to someone other than Neowin for legal advice. Bioslayer
If you want to flee the country, you better have a nice chunk of change to help you along. I am not sure how long it will take for everything to cool down. But how long would your sentence be if they found you? and would it be worth it to bite the bullet instead of hiding in the shadows the rest of your life? JohnsonBox
Interpol has been computerized and the planet is just a global village, so no escape for you unless you manage to escape to North Korea (bear in mind, NK is very poor, no Internet surfing for you except you agree to just use Email, and pay US$ 3 per letter.) ThunderRiver
It is not easy to hide when FBI or CIA is on your mug shot. Now if you do a cosmetic surgery, and flee to some state in mid-west or places like Arizona..maybe you will get better chance of hiding than going all the way to Canada or Mexico. The Texas border is not that easy to pass in case you are wondering. If you are white, you definitely have no problem passing through the border to Canada. From there, you can possiblly flee to Europe, but there is no guarantee that you can ever hide forever. I do not think that theft would be enough reason to flee out of a country? Gary_Player
I spose you could flea a country, but it would have to have the proper climate and everything...fleas like to live in grass when theyre not attached to people/animals so desert countries wouldnt really work...It would probably take alot of flea eggs to get the flea invasion started and you would need some sort of flea breeding ground to accumulate all these eggs...you could also breed for more viscious, angry fleas. I wouldnt recomend fleaing a ****ry like canada cuz they'd spread all over, but someplace like the UK should be alrite because as we all saw in 28 days later you can totally cut the UK off from everywhere else :D
