PKHelloNasty
I specifically make my paypal and main email different passwords than everything else. It is not wise to use the same password for everything. (not saying you did, but alot of people do)
j0sh
i had something similar happen to me. somebody got a hold of my debit card number and charged 3 transactions totalling $500 to my checking acccount. i contacted my bank, filled out some forms, faxed them back and i got my money back since it wasnt me. might want to cancel what ever account you were using in paypal for your funds. LPC
Password in there was different to all my other passwords. But now I've just completely lost faith in the whole on-line thing !! Changing all my passwords everywhere now !!
FISKER_Q
Yeah just phone your bank and explain what happened. Here they just give us a paper and we sign that we didn't use those money. And then we recieve them again. Afterwards you should of course change the information, if you can. And then make sure no trojans, virii or whatever are running on your computer. The man who did it will probably be busted rather quickly, unless if he stole another persons bankaccount or similar.
PKHelloNasty
1. yea, if he bought something online, he probably needed it shipped somewhere. Look in you paypal account see where the money went. 2. Contact that company and find the shipping address, or IP of the buyer. If its an address, yer home free. If all they have is an IP you can see at least the area hes from, and if yer lucky even find the house if you call RR :) 3. Package up some poo and mail it to the same house. If you dont feel like finding your own poo.. you can go here http://www.smellypoop.com/

LPC
Well that's me got the money back ... but the big arse of all this is that he'll get away with it. Also the git now has my full postal address !!! The card in question has been canceled and a new one is on the way (good work by MBNA there). But interesting is how he got into the account. The password on there was a tricky one of 6 random numbers and followed by a few random letters. How the hell he hacked that I'll never know !! Surely Paypal should be monitoring things like this as it must have taken him ages to have got to this password !! As I said before I'm majorly lost faith in this system. Paypal I thought was one of the safest ... now what about all the other online retails and the banks. Luckly I use different passwords for all these accounts. But do the little boys monitor their sites as well as the big boys ?? Probably more so ... I'm so tempeted to delete the paypal account !!

forster
*checks paypal account* All is fine. I can only presume that if the pass is that secure, that you were duped into signing in via one of the scams that are going around at the moment. When logging in from one of the 'scam' pages, your username and pass are automatically sent to the person who is trying to rip you off. I dont think it was paypal being hacked, as there isn't anything warning people on their site. More likely either my suggestion above, or someone has been looking over your shoulder. Really horrible tho either way :(
