Elliot B.
I turned on my work PC this morning (Optiplex 3020 with Intel HD 4600 graphics and 7 x64) and the display (Dell E2414H) was set to 1600x1200. Display Properties is showing this is the maximum resolution I can use. As the display in Display Properties, it's showing "Generic Non-PNP Monitor" I have downloaded and re-installed the latest Intel HD drivers (Win78_64_15.31.16_3234_DELL_setup_ZPE.exe) and E2414H drivers (Dell_E2414H-MONITOR_A00-00_DRVR_K3P9K.exe) from Dell's website. No luck. I have also tried completely uninstalling both and re-installing both - still no luck. There appear to be no issues in Device Manager. The latest Intel HD drivers from Intel's website do not install ("This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.") Any ideas? The Evil Overlord
Does the pc have on board graphics? (uninstalling might work better if the card was completely removed) And the fact that it's forgotten the make and model of your display raises another alarm, how old is your card now? (As I'm afraid you might need to RMA it) (or a system restore to a time when everything was fine)

I have tried fresh Intel HD and Dell monitor driver installations.

XerXis
manually point it to the correct drivers?
Decebalvs Rex
Check BIOS, change some values regarding iGPU memory , disable it and restart so the system automatically enables it with default settings. Check BIOS updates online and review your mobo drivers. System restore it for testing purposes.
Elliot B.
manually point it to the correct drivers? Point what where? Device Manager is not showing any problems. I don't think pointing Monitors > Generic Non-PNP Monitor to the Dell drivers will help. Check BIOS, change some values regarding iGPU memory , disable it and restart so the system automatically enables it with default settings. Check BIOS updates online and review your mobo drivers. System restore it for testing purposes. I believe the latest BIOS is already installed. I don't want to mess with the BIOS. Besides, it was fine until it randomly stopped working this morning. So I'm sure it's not a BIOS-related issue.

Also, changing some iGPU values in BIOS won't hurt your balls.

(Account no longer active)
I'm having a similar issue, with a Dell with i7/HD 2000 graphics. It starts up in 800x600 (instead of 1920x1080) randomly. I find putting the PC to sleep and waking it up again solves the problem. Not sure if there's an official patch to fix this, however do note that drivers on the Dell website aren't always the latest versions available. riahc3
Hello, I don't think pointing Monitors > Generic Non-PNP Monitor to the Dell drivers will help. And why exactly don't you think that will help? Did you try going to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor; there, clear the Hide modes that this monitor cannot display checkbox. Elliot B.
Turns out the VGA cable into the system must have been loose. Works fine after taking it out and plugging it back in. gohpep and The Evil Overlord 2 Share

Elliot B.
VGA cable? You mean DVI or HDMI or display port cable, vga cable is old school analog? VGA. This four week old Optiplex 3020, with a 4th-generation i5-4570 (so, quick), still only has a VGA port on the back for some reason.
AStalUK
The OptiPlex 3020 specs list it as having a DisplayPort out, you can get a DP to DVI cable to use with your monitor. It will give a slightly better image, worth the extra cost of a few pounds. Surprised Dell didn't supply a DisplayPort cable, I did get one with my OptiPlex 9010. One of the pins detect res I believe. BTW, all OptiPlex come with AT least DisplayPort which can be converted to DVI.
+BudMan MVC Posted February 24, 2014 MVC Share Posted February 24, 2014 Are you using it with old monitor, ok took a look at your monitor it only has 1 Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP 1 Video Graphics Array (VGA) So yeah you should of gotten an adapter for your displayport out of your pc I/O Ports:2 external USB 3.0 ports (rear) and 6 external USB 2.0 ports (2 front, 4 rear); 1 Serial port (optional); 1 PS/2 (optional); 1 RJ-45; 1 VGA; 1 DisplayPort 1.2; 1 Mic-in & 1 Headphone out (front); 1 Mic-in/Line-in & 1 Line-out(rear) should of came with something like this

But absolutely not a HDMI port.
+BudMan MVC Posted February 24, 2014 MVC Share Posted February 24, 2014 yeah if you look at the i/o ports listed for the 3020 there is no hdmi. Did you add a different video card that has it on the card vs the integrated video? As to the adapter not in the box - did you order it with or without monitor? The adapters are only a few bucks but its the principle of the thing - if you just bought it a few weeks ago I would contact dell on why no adapter.
