wtf? mobile email?

ok im on a nokia 3310 with Tmobile, this phone does NOT have WAP, but still this morning i got a vibration like for a message, and it said "1 new email" with a little e instead of the message image (never seen that before). At the same time i got a message saying "JOIN blah blah 500 free txts a month blah blah 3 pounds a month" (which i deleted - i hate ads of all sorts when they're either on phone or email). Another person got the same thing, same time, same phone, same little e. Any idea what it is? how can i get rid of it? thx guys

Most mobile providers, create an email address for your phone number. So if, some guy just randomally guess at phone numbers, such as a 123456789@messaging.sprintpcs.com then you could get emails, even if wap is disabled.

Because it comes to you as a page or text message.

I'd love to be able to use this feature, to send appointments and stuff to my phone from my time management or email tool.

how do i get rid of the annoying e though? and how do i look at the email? and wap wasnt only disabled, it didnt exist at the time i bought the phone lol!

What did it say as the from address?

The way sprint does it, someone sends you an email, and sprint converts it into a text message.

So it could have been an email spam, but sent to you via text.

I'd contact your mobile provider.
