Windows 8.1 and dpi scaling in the Metro env

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm using my PC as an HTPC and i got this problem with Windows 8.1. The start screen elements are bigger on my HDTV than my PC monitor even if both have the same 1080p resolution. It is bothering me cause it f*** up the display of my start screen on my HDTV since only 4 rows of medium sized elements fit vertically instead of 6.

In the Control Panel > Display settings (desktop) both display are set to Smaller - 100% for the Change the size of all items option. The desktop is displayed at the same size on both panel.

In the PC & devices > Display settings (Metro) the value for the Change the size of apps on the display that can support it option for my HDTV is set to Smaller (lowest possible value) and the value for my monitor is set to Default (perfect size for my taste).  Since my HDTV is already set to Smaller i can't set it to display the elements of the start screen to be smaller. If i set my monitor to Larger instead of Default then both display the elements of the start screen at the same size but they become far too big for my taste.

What can i do to make my HDTV to display the start screen elements at the same size as my monitor?

[edit] All Ease of Access options are turned off.
