dankduke
I bought this from a guy on craigslist and totally got fooled. i had no idea that this was installed it came with a "Kiosk" that prevents you from creating any user accounts or make changes to any settings. Upon doing more research, I found out that this is a security feature that stores can install on their display models in the store. When sold to a customer, the store takes this security off. The person that sold me this computer did not have it unlocked, and now I am stuck with this computer. Hopefully someone can help me remove this so i can enjoy the laptop i purchased. The guy seemed totally reputable. Thanks

link6155
Well, I'm not sure if this will work or not, but if you do get a Windows 8.1 CD, you may be able to refresh (not reset) and lift the Kiosk mode. If this does work, you'll be able to keep the modern apps and any personal documents on the computer, but not installed applications. dankduke 1 Share

Do this as soon as you press the power button to turn it on
gedstar
Use this to create a bootable USB Drive or DVD disk and enable booting from either in the BIOS and do a fresh install of windows, I'm assuming you have a Windows 8 ISO http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool You will need to download the drivers from the manufactures website. Considering the Laptop came with a KIOSK account I would be a bit concerned that it may have been stolen
Som
Could try something like Trinity Rescue Kit, & enable the administrator account. What's the make & model? might help with finding out how to access the BIOS
SledgeNZ
If you can sign in and it goes to kiosk mode hitting the windows key quickly 5 times will get you out of this mode (If you have another login). gohpep 1 Share

jimkraz
If you have a purchased copy of windows 8 and access to a external drive and you are not bothered about what's on your laptop, then just connect external drive, insert your disc, and install a new copy of Windows 8 using the key that came with your disc. mduren2445
who makes it? go to their website and follow the directions for a windows recovery and see if that works... most of the time hp/compaq machines if you press f11 repeatedly after turning it on you will get in the recovery partition
